has anyone used an old shape mille stator?

with my on going stator probs, i bought a stator that was supposed to be off an 03 mille to put on my 04 bike, but it was about 1mm too wide and the bike wouldn't start with it.

i bought another stator off an old shape mille yesterday - cut the round connector off and bolted on with no probs. tried to start it and it just about turned the motor but didn't start, as if the battery was flat (although bike was only started the day before).

my question is has anyone ever used a stator off a previous shape rsv on their 2004 -> rsv?

yep

Have fitted early stator onto later bike
No probs
Straight bolt on, modified wiring
running sweet as a nut so far
guys done over 500 miles now

have a look ata guy called "The knurl" stator postings on Af1.

Lots of contributers with stator issues.

He's been working with a supplier in the USA trying to develop a replacement. He went through loads including earlier rsv versions. They all failed in less than 1k miles due to winding overheating.

Fingers crossed yours will be ok but i would keep an eye on that voltage for a good few miles.
