Its not just the pipe its a complete exhaust, under the bellypan you have a Shiver-like "catalytic converter". I missplaced the link I once saved from a company that makes this kind of exhaust. And this picture is bad, it looks a lot nicer.

I look at it this way, if transfers the weight more to the center and the most important down. If its lighter than the stock system (should be) also reduces weight and helps cutting the wind a bit.
