hi all had the rsvr since 01/03/08 came from a blade and not rode since oct only done 250 miles on rsvr but finding the change to a twin strange as in the cornering seems to b takin some time to feel rite always seem to b a bit lumpy coming out of corners or am i still at the swap over stage ...im not the fastest rider in the world or should i say im just progressive and safe ..any hints tips or will it come to me???:confused

I found the stock suspension settings on the newer bikes to be a bit poo.

I had the front end dropped through the yokes by another 5mm and the front and rear settings tweaked. Went from feeling a bit cumbersome and slow to turn into a bike that feels a lot smaller than its real size...

Gearing also helps on the way out of a bend.

Personally I don't think there's anything wrong with the standard gearing and I have exactly the same bike as you.

As V8-P stated, setting the bike up better would probably transform it for you. I did mine a while back and it felt loads better. Have to say mine didn't feel THAT bad before I started, just thought it could be better, and now it is :thumbup

no probs im prob not sure wot i quite meant and may have not explained rite i think i meant its more sounds like its in the wrong gear coming out of the corner thats the impression the feel and sound gives me and i meant swap over stage as in converting from a blade to a twin but like im being told ive only dun 250 miles on it so its early days but its a great ride ,power is brill ,sound is woaaah deffoo great.... but do thank all for hints tips and a excellent forum:doug

Found the same as V8 that the standard suspender settings were a bit poo on the later bikes.

Way way to soft for me and it dived for england every time i hit the front brake hard.

Standard gearing ok but i like to use 2nd in tight turns and traffic as much as poss as it allows much smoother riding. If you ever spend time in the alps or Pyrenees etc touring it can get so tight that standard gearing is a right pain especially if it rains. Going round a wet off camber hairpin downhill (steep)with the clutch in isn't ideal. Standard 1st gear is almost too fast for those situations so you have to clutch it which then means you need the brakes to slow you up and that's not a good combination. Much better to let the engine do the braking.

It will help if you drop the gearing on the exit from bends but generally the rsv doesn't like the revs too low when you get back on the throttle as things get snatchy and chuggy. You might need to just recalibrate the gears you use if the gearing change doesn't fix it.

If you have come from an IL4 then they just don't go anywhere if your gear selection is wrong but a twin will object vocally and shake out your fillings.
