Hi guys, I have an 03 RSV Mille and it just dont seem to handle, I am a fairly quick rider and My old GSXR K4 600 was very nice, i could push it and feel confident, Where as the RSV seems very bouncy & wobbly and just not very . . erm . . :dunno planted!

Front end also seems VERY light, my K4 had a damper, this has not so could that be why? i have set up the bikes suspension from MCN's recommended setting and tried tweeking from that but still, Dont seem to be no where near as good as the K4. . . .

Would a damper make a mass improovment ?

Anyone got any GOOD settings for a 14,5 stone meat head :D , ha!

I have read many write ups saying these are awsome handling machines, so i just think mine needs setting up right,

Thanks

Chris

a mille set up mate will outhandle your gixxer with ease you need to get it set up for yourself i myself am 16 stone and you probably could do with changing the standard spring as for a steering damper never found the need for one on the mille at all and i pushed mine to its limits.
my advice would be to see griff to set yours up and the difference will amaze you i have never used griff but have met him once briefly top bloke ! an the word on the street he is awsome as you can see from the replys on this forum and i think he's up your neck off the woods:thumbup

Mate i had this problem at first, a gsxr600 and an mille are like chalk and cheese. It just took me time to get used to it. For road riding i wouldnt bother wasting money on a set up or get info and do it your self.

cost me £20 at southern cross to set mine up and what a difference someone with knowlegde makes rather than two clicks here three clicks there from a writeup they do it to suit the individual:thumbup
but hey its your money:biggrin
p.s ask little1uk which mille feels better his old one or the one he just bought of me set up:thumbup

I will drop Griff an e-mail see if he can set it up for me, then go from there :D

a steering damper will not make it handle any better
have a word with the griff worked wonders for me think his booklet is on here some were explaining the setting up of your bike real easy to under stand

I have had the same problems, coming from a GSXR750, all my issues come from the rear shock not being up to it, I get the light feeling at the front...(because the rear shock is compressing to much transfering weight to the back), generally feels vague. I have just bought an ohlins rear shock, so hopefully this will sort it out.

I got mine set up by Southern Cross. It's better but still not quite right. I'm starting to think it's just the 8 year old sussies that need a bit of recon work.

You need to check that the rear shock linkages are in perfect nick, beings need to be spot on.
Also make sure all the settings are set to standard.
Do you know when the front fork oil was changed ?, may the front rebound is on max this will have an effect of making the front seem light.

Guys, I couldn't agree more, Southern Cross are second to none. I took my RSV R04 to them this weekend, the guys are spot on sorted my dog of a 'standard suspension' into a bike that corners like its on rails. They updated my engine mapping, changed the oil jet and generally ironed out all the problems that were passed down onto me from the previous owner who liked to dabble with minimal success. If you want a proper job don't take it anywhere else. All of that cost under £60. Wouldn't take it anywhere else from now on.

Mine is in with Griff at the moment. I took it there as everyone said he is the man when it comes to rsv's.

Mr RSVR felt crapwhen i got it.My old cbr 600f was better! Griff rode it round the block then reeled off a list of things that need doing. He knows his stuff and what a great bloke! I await the results and cant wait to ride it when its fully sorted.

Ill report back and probably add another recomendation for Griff:thumbup
