Lincolnshire (the land that time forgot)
Parking up today: backed into a space, put side stand fully down, dismounted and down she goes :banghead
Managed to wedge my left leg and arm under the bike and luckily got away with only a scuffed bar weight and bent clutch lever (and a twisted knee). :bawling:bawling.

All it took was a 3 inch deep dip in the tarmac, and the bloody useless thing that passes as a side stand, acted as fulcrum and actually tipped the bike over !!!

I felt a right ****: (In 35 riding years Ive never dropped a bike parking one before) rolling around on the floor trying to keep the paint work off the ground, big thanks to the guys who helped lift the bike off me.

Anyone remind me what was the best replacement side stand - was it from a Blade ????

Cheers

Glad your ok !

A few options out there but for me, best replacement is the Aprilia US / Canada one.(its the one those twats should have given us in the first place) Keep your eyes out on ebay (usa) or the AF1 forum. Seem to come up quite often and not that expensive. IIRC mine was around £40 / 50 delivered.

Could have been costly that fubar !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got myself a USA stand a while ago. Twice the stand than the twiglet we get. Cost about £60 on ebay.

:dunno I reckon I've been lucky: clutch lever is shagged (but I was looking at some ASV levers a while back anyway), but some wet and dry and satin black on the bar end and side stand (you vicious b'stard) and she's almost good as new - my knee hurts like a bitch though. So pleased that my left leg stopped contact between paint work and tarmac :thumbup

Will check eBay for US/ Canada side stand variant - thanks chaps

Fubar if you look on Ebay search for kickstands, it brings up the usa ones. Good luck fella:thumbup

Mine nearly went today as the side stand sunk into the hot tarmac, it actually gently leaned its self on to the garage WALL! SO WATCH OUT FOR SOFT TARMAC IN THIS HOT WEATHER!

06/07 blade make sure it comes with the side stand lead fits straight on £40 eBay if you see one

Aprilia's sting in the tail: after fitting a comical side stand, I think Aprilia have identified a potential commercial benefit: just checked the price on a genuine replacement Clutch Lever - basic cheap as chips non-adjustable ali jobby: talk about adding insult to injury - cheapest I could source was £53 plus postage :ghostface

Are they having a giraffe ? I recently bought a genuine NOS unit for my restoration project: Suzuki 1974 GT750L: price was £13 from Suzuki: :crazy

At least Dick Turpin wore a mask !!!!!
