Hello all,

I'm sure people are fed up with newbie posts or glad of another Mille owner perhaps a bit of both, either way just thught I'd welcome myself to the zone in hope of guidance from peers in the community.

Gutted newbie - bought a mint 02 Mille 6000miles on the clock at a steal last week, counted the days down at uni until the weekend to go home and pick it up and on my second outing on it I ended up skidding down the road, which is not an experience I want to repeat.

Long story short live in a village, following my dad on his gsxr back down the lane to the village going under 20mph, a blind bend later and shall we say an enthusiastic 4x4 driver coming the other way, they break my dad puts the anchors on, so do I but move over to the right to stay clear of him hit gravel, lock up and before I know it front end has gone and I'm skidding down the road. I was truly truly gutted with a bruised hip and pride. Those brembos are pretty responsive... lessons to be learned - well theres a few, try and fight natural reaction to grab your brakes and perhaps stay further back, but live and learn and all that

The bike is fine apart from a 50p piece or so dink in the swing arm from the exhaust, and needs some r/h fairing work which is where I could use some help - decals best place to get them without the excessive price tag? Paint codes? been trying to find them all weekend its the silver/grey colour scheme with the red belly pan (if thats any help) and the exhaust is dented however i was planning on getting a new can for it anyway as i like to hear THUNDER - any advice on a can in the £200-250 budget?

Apart from my off, what a bike, coming from a SV 650 woah its a revelation I love it, smoooooooooth power and pulls like a train an effortless ride

any other recommended mods?

Welcome buddy, sorry to hear about your off and yes theses bikes are the mutts nuts :)
best thing to do is give me your damaged bike and have mine instead :lol

Decals seem to expensive for theses bike hense my bike is not standard and had custom paint job and stickers :) I've seem some on ebay but don't know if theses are any good for you. Have you tried a graphics shop. Oli on hear works for a shop like that I think, seen some of his graphics and its spot on :)

as for a can, well I love Remus for the sound, but then I would browse about for some renegades or a yoshi

thanks my 2 pence worth anyways :)

Hi Mate and welcome. Sorry about your prang. Dunno about stickers as mine's all black! Should get yourself a pretty nice can off ebay for that sort of money - have a look at those GP-style cans if you want it really loud as I think they were around that sort of money. Here they are click
Think Mick's got one of this guy's - not quiet though!

****** news about the 4x4 ****!! Firstly, was he coming round the corner on you're side of the road??? If, get hold of the **** and have him/his insurance sort the bike, ****!

If not, you'll definately get a really clean, LOUD can for £250......as for decals, i have used A-Z stickers twice and they've been good stuff (they're based in Newcastle on the famous bike road there......what's it called again???? Ah......Westgate (i think) road.....Billy (Buffalo) mate is that right???

:thumbup

Yep, Westgate Road in the Toon is what you're thinking of...Yep A-Z are good and will custom make to any size/colour you want....Google them! Anyhow..welcome, pity about the off, but you're ok & bike is repairable. There are loads of good cheap cans on e-bay at present for the Mille...just take your time finding what you want.

Welcome to the site KP. Sorry to hear about your 'off'.

You'll get a top notch can on any of the forums for less than £100 if you're prepared to settle for a used one. They often come up for sale, unmarked. Arrow, Akro, Lee Vance etc.

I have some Right side Fairing Decals. Post a piccie of your bike so I can see if they will be ok...

unlucky mate, ive just got some replacement decals from The Image works and they seem pretty good (not had time to put them on yet) and not that expensive.

don't have camera on me at uni, found a matching bike and I've highlighted where the major scuffs and scratches are which needs sanding a new lick of paint and decals, the wind deflectors took the brunt of the scatches but nothing bit of sanding won't solve, it's finding the paint that is the hard part.

Thanks for all of the replies, those GP cans look awfully tempting hehehe Thor would be envious of the thunder
