I've had v twins pretty much constantly since I bought my first Tls in 1998 but I've just bought a gsxr1000 k3 from a mate who's moves abroad. Does anyone have any experience of these and what to look out for, I'll never get rid of my rsvr so I'm trying to get insurance to cover both, so far had a quote for £128 for the rsvr and £146 for the gsxr and wonder if I can consolidate them?

Yes owned & modifed a K3 GSRX1000 Top spec rear Ohlins & Fork internal's , ohlins steering damper .. Tre Unit to remove limiter in 1st & 2nd gear ,
Race airbox .. Yoshy exhaust system with exhaust valve disconnected & locked open .. Race Cams 168RWHP lots of fun but to many wheels in 3rd & 4th gears can damage the gearbox signs of this is it whining will cruzing ... Apart from this they are pretty indestructable Enjoy !!

Make sure there is no 'knocking' sound coming from the front right of the engine!
As for insurance, I don't think you can consolidate. I am looking for a fleet policy myself as I have 2 cars, a van and the bike and that is proving tricky to get. I think you will have to insure seperately. £128 - is that fully comp? I was with carole nash for years and paying that much. Then I got my RSVR and they wanted £590!! Just managed to find £210 with Hastings but I am 40, 3 years NCB and quiet rural postcode.

Had my RSV-R and Fazer 1000 on the same "MultiBike" insurance policy vis HR Insurance brokers in Aberdeen.
Cost approx £240 fully comp

Cheers

Cirrus, It doesn't have a knocking sound from the front right of the engine but what would that knocking be from. Yes it's fully comp £128 for the rsvr and £149 for the gsxr or £242 for both which I thought was pretty good (I'm 46 and live in the middle of nowhere) so pretty much the same as Trossman, but I'll still try and get em down a bit as you have to give it a go. That was with "Dial direct" brokers from "confused"

Had this on my K3 was the auto cam chain adjuster not priming up enough oil pressure so would rattle & knock when cold .. was as simple as manually pushing the adjuster in 1 more notch & so it was set slightly tighter ...
