Gents, have coaxed the Griffer away from the Midlands for an away day at my place hopefully in first 2 weeks of April, to sort some long wanted stuff on my old RSV-R. I'm at RAF Benson half way between Oxford and Reading and am throwing the invite out to all who need some stuff done (after mine is sorted obviously). I'm easy over dates in first half April, but can't do past 16th as I'm off on my desert hols, so I suppose it's down to demand, consensus and when the man can fit us in. It'll be on an RAF station so no obvious Al Qaeda suspects or illegal substances are liklely to get through the dogs on the gate. The Alsatians are pretty suspicious as well. And no, you can't use the runway as a racetrack, it'll be in use!
Let me know if interested

Bugger, I'm only in Garsington and rode up to AP last Monday for a service - sod's law!

Im a few miles away in Banbury, However beeing a super noob not sure what Griff does:dunno

I think i have seen his name bantered around as a man for a chip? if so i would be interested in that.

Daz, Griff is an Aprilia guru and Aprilia Performance is his business.

http://www.apriliaperformance.co.uk/

His business is nr Tamworth and he's good enough to get blokes driving all over the country to get him to fettle their bikes. He also travels to look after the needs of those further afield and occasionally some of us will set up a location and invite all comers. He works like a demon, what he doesn't know about your bike aint worth knowing and he goes the extra for his customers (he once lent me the Ohlins fork legs off his own RSVR as mine were cracked and I was looking at going home on the train in my leathers - legend!). He has a hell of a lot of converts and repeat business, which says a lot. I haven't let anyone else touch my RSVR since it first went to Griff. He also does a natty line in rearsets and other accesssories!

It'd be an all day event with a bit of a thrash afterwards if time permits.

I'm in Hertfordshire, it's about 70/80 miles to you, but I may come down. Hopefully doing a trackday next week, so will see how the bike feels then...and if I have any money left! Will probably want my TB balanced and valve clearances checked mainly. Maybe a fork oil change?

Ah i see, thanks for the heads up, I heard the name bantered about. If he can set up my suspension that would be a good start.

I am an engine builder/tuner for a living so all the mechanical side of things i do my self, but suspension i dont touch.

Well instead of him telling me about it, Im happy to just pay him to do it instead, I raced MX for 23 years and my dad tried to drum it into me over that time, I still dont understand it haha. Im hapy to let some do a set up for me to tweak there after.

Daz

Yes just name the day and I will be there. Never had my suspension set up. What do you think he will charge?

Regards Steve

Hi mate, have you got a firm date ? the early in April the better for me, was going to hang on till Griff down our way again (Porstmouth area) but thats not till the end of April i think

OK, for all those who have expressed an interest in a S Oxon Aprilia Performance service day, Griff has set the day as Thu 7 April.

Please call him on the workshop number 01827285500 top arrange your own requirements and to get a price off Griff.

As mentioned it'll be held at RAF Benson, OX10 6EQ (20 min Jct13 M4, 10 min Jct 6 M40) so I will need details prior to booking you civvies onto base. If, unlike TT Truckie, you don't have an MOD ID card (F1250/MOD90, etc), then please bring a photo ID (driving licence part 2 good) to pass the security at the gate where I will meet all of you.

When confirmed with Griff, PM and, as a back-up, text me on 07771833249 the following details: name, address, VRN and type (assuming all Aprilias?) and ETA. Be quick 'cos Griff's time will fill fast. Bring cash for Griff.

We'll be inside at a workshop on base with a kettle, sandwiches and choccy digestives, but feel free to bring some doughnuts!)

Raptor - I MAY pop over for a social / natter, as I'm right near J13 M4. And I won't need booking in ;)

Timing, mate? Roughly? Ta! :)

EDIT:- Actually, is ONLY a maybe, depends if the service is done the day before.... ;)

Leepants, feel free. If you're cool with booking on, I'll leave directions to the venue at the guardroom - Benson Motorcycle Club workshop, technical site.
