South Australia
Hello,
I've been riding my RSV1000R (purchased 30,000km used) for almost a year now and love all of it's attributes. My affection may well change now that it has to go to the shop thanks to a transmission issue which sees me unable to select a gear (boo hoo).
Although I've ridden bikes reasonably continuously for over 30 years (first bike a Norton Commando) I don't consider myself an expert rider or 'pegscraper' and simply enjoy using my bikes as a primary form of transport rain, hail or shine. Since owning the RSV I am beginning to consider buying a second bike, or getting one of my two Cagiva Mitos running as the RSV isn't really suited to everyday riding in town and is no doubt contributed to the gearbox issue my bike is suffering.
I look forward to hearing of others experiences and wisdom regarding these bikes and in time hope to offer advise myself. It would be great to hear from other South Australian RSV owners too as we seem to be few and far between.
Cheers and safe riding to all.

.hi Mark
I used my RSVR to commute on for two years it hated it and started looking pretty rough. Now she's back to weekend blasts and posing through town. I don't think they make good commuter bikes but that's not really what aprilia had in mind when making such an excellent bike. Enjoy the oz Sun it's freezing here!

About to head off on a 4,100klm trip with the miss's on her beastie on my Tuono. Must say, have never been less tired after 500-600k's than on this bike. Only have a sore arse and neck a little but not the whole body as my previous bikes have caused me.

Welcome aboard RSV Mark

Hi, think you've been unlucky with regards to the gearbox. Mines got just over 68.000 miles (06 Factory) and the gearbox is sweet.
They're definately not a good town bike though for commuting.
