Anybody ever done any green laning? For some reason I've got a bit of a thing about it at the moment.

I'm not talking hardcore motoX racing, grass track or owt competitive, or hill climbs or stuff like that, just simple, basic trail riding for fun. Apparently there are some quite good routes near me, not that I know any of them.

I've hardly any experience of off road stuff, literally just a couple of rides here and there and I've really enjoyed them, it's just that road riding has always, well, just happened really.

So anyway, I fancy a cheap introduction to it just to see if I like it. 'Cheap' doesn't really seem to be available though does it?

Altough I've been mountain biking since the early 90's I've never got into off road motorcycling, partly down to limited time /cash and road bikes have always come first. A mate of mine ia an ex MX racer and now races enduros, as well as writing for Moto magazine. He's taken me out a few times. I tried a KTM 250 2 stroke and hated it (not 'cos it was a 2 stroke - I spent years on Yammy RDs and LCs) and a KTM 540 4 stroke single that I loved.

I'm frankly ***** off road, but if I ever have some spare cash I wouldn't mind getting an enduro bike.

Hi Sparky, i do a bit ive got a honda xr400 enduro, ive had it a year now, bloody good fun when it snowed.. i was hoping it was gonna be a bit of a wheelie monster but it aint, bit flaccid really, might be my 18 stone ass slowing it down, but it pulls through some really bad mucky **** dead easily.. the only problem is almost all of the green lanes have been reclassified around here, they call them restricted byways no motor vehicles allowed, still ride em though, dont know what would happen if you got caught, thing is ive never met anybody else on em.. friggin ramblers..it was them that got the law changed..
