Just got back from a short ride (new gen2, 2000 miles) and noticed a big leak of some fluid from somewhere on the right side, all into the inside of the belly pan, splattered over my boot and my rear tyre, looked back down the road and it had been dripping for sometime, as soon as I shut the engine off it stopped, I started the engine again but no leak..? It felt silky and smelt kinda fuely/oily. Not being in anyway mechanically minded I've no idea...? Can anyone help...?
Thankfully its still under warranty so I will take it back to the dealers, just maybe a bit concerned about it getting on the rear tyre.

sounds like ur coolant top isnt on right/on wrong thread or u over filled it,it expands when up to temp,or check the hose coming from the coolant tank, might have split

Yeah, I've just been going through previous threads on here, it seems coolant leaks from clips loosening is quite a common problem, i'll have to have a quick look before i take it back to the shop.
Luckily the dealers are not too far away.

Must be coolant. Sounds very familiar. I've just had another coolant leak on my Gen 2 (9k on clock). The hose clips are *****, hopefully they're all replaced now.
Bit annoying, but hey I still love my T.

Cheers, great link.
Got it booked in for wed, trouble is they wanna charge £25+vat for collecting it...? (Collection not covered in warranty).
The question is... if It's coolant, how dangerous is that on my back tyre...? Can I just wash it off and it'll be fine?

If it was coolant then it should have pretty much evaporated by now, though may leave some residue. Wash it off, and you should be fine.

do it yersel.....a couple o quids worth o jubilee clips and 1/2 an hoor o yer time.....piece o piss really.

Oh yeah... course I'm gonna do the clips meself, just wanna take it back so they're aware that there has been problems, keep it within the warranty, just so they have no arguments bout anything.... Putting the clips on seems easy.... I think even I might be able to do it...??

.....an it screws humans livers so spit dinnae swallow.

Get Stix tae check it oot...his is goosed onyroads

AAAAHHHHH so after further investigation it turned out to be a loose jubilee clip on the short, fat 90 degree hose behind the already empty plastic water bottle, it was yellow chalked off, so somebody had looked at it at some point...??
Right with the threat of me being really simple... do i need to empty the system completly to refill it or can i just add/top up more antifreeze and water?
Which ever way, what is the correct mixture... antifreeze/water?

Isn't the correct mixture 100% antifreeze and no water as water reacts with the metal in the radiators causing rust.

No....The correct mixture depends on the season and freezing point etc. May be worth belling your dealer for advice.

.....read the back o the antifreeze bottle and the manual.

I've been usin 50/50 for years in everything from ma Tuono tae ma auld Fiat Punto wi nae ill effects so far. Main thing is tae huv somethin in there wet!
