Made a route up last night and tried it out today :pirate

Route in York area

So guy's if you have some good routes get em posted on here :devious

And then use 'TYRE' and save them as TomTom files and download them straight to your GPS device.:thumbup

Hey Sprocker good work.

A couple of observations:

1. If you build the route in sections (with waypoints) you can edit the route or someone can amend aprts of the route to take in alternative sections. I know these areas well and could make some minor suggested changes that I think you'd like:devious

2. The total mileage and guide times that Google build in are obviously not defaulted to RSV riding are they LOL (84.7 mi - about 2 hours 34 mins) FFS I reckon a steady 1hour 30mins +/- ????? or did you get stuck behind those Morris Minors again:nana

3. You came virtually past the door - if you'd posted this last night you could have stopped by for a cuppa:eatcorn

Not sure how to put waypoints in yet :dunno could i add you as a "collaberator" then you could change it :thumbup ( i'll need your e-mail addy to do that tho' :thumbup

Where do you live ? it would have saved me stopping to relieve myself in the hedgerow :biggrin

A likely story, you are now outed as a serial FLASHER! :devious

Hi IanG, i downloaded that "TYRE" program so just have to work out how to use it with tomtom now. Will it work with any tomtom :dunno I have it loaded onto a PDA, or does it have to be a proper TomTom sat nav :dunno it looks a great program tho' so thanks for the link :doug

No ,anything running the (correct version)TomTom software afaik.

I have one of those super cheapo ebuyer Navigo's running TomTom and Igo8 software (amongst other things like movies and MP3's)
and you just plot your routes in Google maps (or Earth) and save it as a .ITN file type and import it to the appropriate (ITN) folder in the device used.

Certainly beats tapping and dragging on a 3.5" screen.

YORK!!!! run for the hills,.........

Spent many a day riding back and forth from Swindon to Clifton Moor for work in the snow, rain freezing fog and once sunshine :)

Never rode around that area, was always to knackered.

Yeah Google has some cool stuff. Which has just remonded me to get the code for the Location map to Crashtd lol,

Oopps!

Guys, don't post up your regular routes as the Police frequent forums such as this and will undoubtedly use your innocent information to extract your hard earned dosh from your wallet.

Only way to get round it I suppose is to have a paid up members section that we can post up our routes in. The coppers will be too tight to pay subs and imagine the scandal if their expenses were published and we saw RSVZone Subscriptions on the invoices LOL

just got back from a weekend down that way, took in a bit of the 'bike 440' route - ripon to hawes then settle/ingleton- WOW!!! :biggrin you are some lucky buggers living near there! and olivers mount too... plain crazy

that said, the place was swarming with cops, so if you are reading this, i'm onto your silly black unmarked bmw, and i DEFINATELY wasnt speeding.... :nana

Ian, if you download it onto your Tom Tom, can the Tom Tom still be used in the normal manner or does it change everything?

You just add it to the Itinerary folder on your TomTom then navigate to the planned routes and hit go. Simples :thumbup

I would love to now where I have been not were im going, i have inforad but its **** for map plotting, is this something i can do with my TomTom?

Inforad doesn't plot maps :biggrin

I have a garmin gps that i use ( read used to use :biggrin) when up in the mountains, this has a tracklog feature that can be downloaded to a DIGITAL mapping software such as Memory Map. This shows your route taken, speeds reached etc. I tried it on the bike once and it works :thumbup

I'm not quite sure,I seem to think that one of the GPS systems I have loaded (either TomTom or Igo8) has a facility to plot where you've been and save it so you can analyse it afterwards.

Try this site http://www.thepctailor.com/ for info on GPS related subjects etc.

Personally I use Igo rather than TomTom when in the car,but I have used a choice of different 'skins' so it has additional features compared to stock and is much more configureable.

TomTom is perhaps less 'busy' when used on the bike tho'

Tim, your Inforad stores your route as longitude and latitude settings mate, you can import these in to MS Autoroute and see where you went. :thumbup

or if you have a nokia phone with inbuilt gps (or use a bluetooth gps receiver) yu can install a program called nokia sportstracker for free that will record routes
