...just come back from an awesome hoon across scotland...words cannot describe just how good some of those roads are...you lucky, lucky bastids..
anyway, basic route was...

ardrossan
arran
kintyre peninsula
islay
tarbet
inverarry
dunoon
grenock
GLASGOW & the metropolis
peebles
melrose

the run was fantastic, and we'll be doing it again shortly I think....but the roads past/through glasgow sucked....
so I was kinda wondering...if any of you scottish hooners know of an alternative route that by-passes the city, without M-ways/duals/****** built up areas etc...
cheers :thumbup

PS...can you please reply in english :lol

...Tifa min.....ye huv still nae seen the best o it...ye need tae git yer erse richt up the West Coast......unfortunately theres nae really any practical way tae skip roond Glasgow unless ye come up the borders Jedburgh way.......if you loons git the show on the road in Sept coont me in fur a wee meet an greet at some Hi'land tearoom.

Grand Master, why the islands and ferries, very expensive but fir me far more suited to a family outing.

Yer biking roads don't really include going to islands unless Ireland or Isle of man.

I wis oot wae garry who did the Inner and Outer Herbrides last year and them dudes loved it.

GM, pm me and let me know whit it is yer lookin fir.

Yer whiskey dudes wid love to do the route that wid take yer to rico land, Spey Valley.

GM, whit the fecks up wae ma toons road system?

Yer might even consider a stop over here if it ties in wae yer mileage, yer won't be disappointed.

Jist ask yer Nob.

Eye, no real route around Weegie land so drop in and sample it. I always find after a real full on rip up to outer Glasgi the m/way a bit of a sit back and like 'wow I'm here' kind of thingy wotsit. Dunno I'm always in awe of Glasgow, luv it. Never ever go past, pop in, it'll surprise you.

Grand Master, why the islands and ferries

Yeah...good point, the ferries are a bit pricey, but we go up each year (last 7) to go to Islay to visit some barrels of whiskey we've got laid down in storage. It's now become a bit of a tradition... Gonna be another 3 years+ before it's bottled delivered. We mainly stay at SYHA s...brilliant value for money, good company (usually) ..and there's always a drying room to leave all your soggy kit overnight if the heavens do decide to dump it down
I went as far up as Fort William last year and came back down through Glencoe (you just wouldn't wanna be there with snow on the ground would you?) fantastic views, heritage, roads and peeps....you Scots have it all you lucky bassa's.
Mind you, the petrol prices up there!?!...sheeesh..
