Good evening all
Been reading through some of the threads and some of you speak of cutting a wire to get the de-restricted mapping. Does this apply to my 99 mille and how do you do it, if its not already been done :love2.
cheers

Cheers for that Daversvr :thumbup. Had a look on that link but think i will hang on and speak to someone who has done the mod before i go hacking bits off:biggrin

I would be 99.9% sure it will be done mate, they were also restricted in the exhaust link pipe, the dealers usually do them before they leave as new bikes, i am pretty sure your bike will be done, but it will do no harm checking it out.:thumbup

Cheers badger but how do i check its been done mate.:confused

You mean this snip :thumbup

does anyone know what restrictions the 2001 model rsv has?? is it the same as mentioned above?? what does the restriction affect - is ti just top speed?

The restrictions mentioned by Badger are the same for all 1998 to 2003 RSV Mille's. These restrictions limit rear wheel horse power to around 100. Once these derestrictions have been carried out, BHP output is increase to around 115 to 118 Bhp.

thanks legs. That link doesnt work badger??

what do i need to do to the standard exahaust to derestrict it? does it have a cat in it?

ive just spoken with the seller of my bike (due to be collected tomorrow wahoo!!) and he says the bike is still restrcited, but he said there is an easier way to deresrict without having to do all the other stuff.

He said you can just remove the filters from the air intakes at the fron of the bike. This sounds like a dumb idea to me, has anyone else heard of this??

EDIT - JUST FOUND A BRILLIANT LINK FOR DERESTRCITING YOUR BIKE http://mkro.chez-alice.fr/FalcoPage/Debridage/Aprilia-RSV1000-De-Restrict.htm

Is he for real:confused

There is no such thing, if he said that, i would be doubtful whether he knew if it was restricted or not mate, don't get hung up about it, the job is 10mins worth of checking, check the wire is cut, lift the tank check the airbox restrictor has been removed, if it has an aftermarket can then it is not restricted in the exhaust, simple as that:thumbup

cheers Badger. The bike is definately still restricted - the guy im buying the bike from is a old fella who clearly hasnt used the bike properly - only 5700 miles and its a 01 model!! it comes with a spare standard exhaust, as the current one has a gate graze on ti which is perfect, ill the newer can deresricted and then jobs a good'n!
