Getting Rid Of The Spanner

I tried to log in on my old username but I couldn't get it to work so I'm on as this name now.

Anyway, I just posted at AF1 but thought you guys maybe able to help here if they can't.

I have a problem. 06+ Tuono.

I can only select Trip 1 and Trip 2 not mode. It selects Trip 1 on both 1 & 2 and 2 in Mode.

I hold the set button down for 10 seconds and nothing happens apart from reseting the trip meter. I first noticed this when the 30k spanner appeared a couple of weeks ago.

When I was trying to get rid of the spanner tonight it appeared to correct itself momentarily but now is back to Trip 1 and 2 only again. The spanner and the ST are still showing.

Don't really understand. If you put the switch in mode which is just the basic dash display does nothing happen ?

I dont get it either,....are you saying you cant select 'mode' on the l/h handlebar switch,....or,you cant get into the menu when you switch to 'mode' and hold down the select button?

Tell me to **** off but your not trying to change modes are you ? Like Track, road, rain ?

Are you in the position with the switch, ie not trip 1 or 2 but the normal setting? if so then I can't help. if you're trying to bring up the menu then you need to have the switch in the full down position. It won't work on the trip settings, clear as mud but hope it helps.

I looked at the other replies briefly... What I'm getting here is that you are trying to get rid of the spanner. You need a code that the dealer has to turn it off. Try the stickies at AF1, I think there is a fix there.

Aldo got close.

When the switch is on "Trip 1" trip one is displayed

When the switch is on "Trip 2" trip one is displayed

When the switch is on "Mode" trip two is displayed.

I can not get "Mode" displayed, hence I assume this is why I can not get in to change the spanner or read how many ks my bike has done.

Any idea WTF I've done or how to fix it ?????

discostu if both trip 1 and 2 were zeroed at the same time the values would be the same for both. It sounds like the switch isn't switching to the mode setting. Fecked switch maybe, can you zero the trip values by holding in the function button? Has anything untoward happened to the switch, damage, frost, pressure washed etc. Take it appart and see if you can find anything that doesn't look right. Hope you find the cause soon.

It seemed to correspond with about 30,000k but we also went through a days rain (read blizard) on the way to Phillip Island so I'm not exactly sure what came up first..

I can zero trip one and trip two and scroll through both, it's just trip one remains when I click it to the trip two position and trip 2 is showing when it is in the mode position.

When I was trying to fix it last night it seemed to flash across to mode position just for a second or two and then back to the way it is, I wish I could remember what I'd done to make it do that.

How do you open the box, is it the two screws on the bottom ?

OK, I pulled the switch apart and washed it out with INOX and gave it a blow out with the air compressor, it seems to be working again so some **** must have gotten down in there somewhere.

So I guess all I need know is the sequence for clearing the spanner now, if someone can help it would be greatly appreciated.
