From what i 've read it's not really a liquidation sale. I think it's only the GW stock of used bikes that are being sold off via auction. All the other GW stock (helmets and clothing etc) is now for sale from the new owners 'Mega Motorcycle Store' that bought the shop and stock. They do not want to continue the bike selling side of it.

Thats what I was getting at!!! And on 3 of teh GW sites, MMS are flogging the the stock. Didja not click the link? ;) As the link states (as does teh full page ad in MCN) that it IS a liquidation sale and EVERYTHING must go ;)

Or am I missing something? (normal!! :biggrin )

I've not seen the MCN advert but the link says nothing that I can see about a liquidation sale. A liquidation sale is what happens when a company goes out of business. An administrator is appointed to try and recover the value of the assets (stock) so that the money can then be used to pay anybody that the (ex) company owes money to. They have done this liquidation sale and the buyer was MMS.

MMS are a new business. They are not liquidating. If they are using the term 'liquidation sale' they are not using it correctly and are basically using it as a marketing tool to try to get punters through the door on a promise of f*** all

I'm pretty sure that's right.

I hear ya. basically, I feel MMS want rid to try to claw back some capital....

Just looking at the ad in mcn, top of page headlines "The George White bankrupt and liquidated stock sale!!!!
LIQUIDATION SALE
Its all up for grabs! Clothing, bikes, parts, accessories, spares even teh workshop tools - EVERYTHING MUST GO"

Hence my post ;) But I hear ya. I'm defo going on saturday, aiming to arrive before 10, and I LOVE haggling... ;) I'll report back when I get back. :)

Good luck at the sale.

I have my eye on a shark helmet if they have it in my size. Gonna go online and try and blag it first thing sat.

Any joy, Spoonz?

I went. The bike auction was NOT full of bargains - some were cheaper online than teh reserve! The "autojumble" bit was ok, if you wanted indicators and other bits and bobs. The "main" showroom housed teh old "outlet store" stock and stuff from the old main showroom, but the prices were pretty much as they were in the outlet bit. i bought nothing - hardly even looked, tbh, as the queue to buy was 3 hours long........ However, I MAY be going back down tomorrow for a ride-out / nosey, so I'll report back again.

Liquidation sale my arse ;)

Just a marketing ploy as I suspected. Never mind, it's been a nice weekend.

Nope.

half the stuf they advertised was not even there and what was, largely was the same price you would pay anyhwere else.

My brother got some stuff and queued 3 hours to pay. Waste of time
