Sorry I'll pass on this occasion. :thumbdown

TBH, it's kind of ok on GenII, but will obviously work better on the GenI's.

Aldo thats what you call stuck mate, do you always carry rescue timbers with you?

excellent....... bet it was a bugger to get that out... especially if you were on ya tod !

f, it took me over an hour to get it out and although I flew through the air fir a bit when it stopped dead, I didn't hurt masel.
Unfortunately after digging it oot ma poor back and forearms were aching from the effort.

slayer the battens were laid oot to the right of the pics but lying at a camber and overlapping each other. They looked sodden and were covered wae a thin film of mud (if yer go on them Aldo the front is jist gonae slide right off) so I opted fir the nice lookin muddy bit. The path that I'm on has an aqueduct just to the right of the pics and the top part of the path/retainer had been breached letting the water wash the path away, hence the boards etc for walkers to negotiate the PIT.

WC, I'd be more than happy if I missed oot on that kind of fun fir at least a wee while.

Jist to add a wee bit more urgency to my plight, if the rangers happened along I would have been slapped wae an ASBO and the bike confiscated.

All my fault, but when you live in Europe's largest wilderness it doesnae half boil yer pish that yer cannae even ride off road.

WC I've been reading a lot of RR's on the ADV forum aboot the TAT and seen loads of pics of usable non slab routes that yer can jump on fir thousands of miles all over the Americas.

If yer ever want a swap gimme a shout mucker. :thumbup

f, a hope yer hand is healing up nicely and don't forget to give me a shout next time you and yer muckers are oot on the green lanes. :thumbup

A, hand is on the mend..... slowly. Cant wait to get back on but will be a few weeks yet. Hasnt put me off tho, too much time on me hands trawlin the net has got me thinkin of upgrading to something a bit newer...... roll on January sales eh !

Will defo give you a shout when im fit to hit the lanes again - hopefully not literally this time...

:)

Aldo, first time I have seen the pics, I wish I had been there & seen you go into that one.
I would probably have pissed my self laffing.

I have just made a pulling handle from some rope & ty-raps, round the front forks, just above the front mud-guard.
Makes it loads easier to drag your bike out of a hole, even if you are by yourself.

I normally log on at work & for some reason I cant see embedded pictures ??

I bet you were you sweating a bit, from pulling it out & in case the rangers nabbed you.

After studying e-bay for a little while, I have concluded that it would be easier & cheaper to make a trailer that buy some over-priced rusty thing.
The parts are not too expensive & if you get second hand car wheels / tyres, you can spec the PCD of the hubs, making it cheaper still.
Something to do when its a bit cold.

Al, yes sir loads of trails and riding routes to be explored all over the US. I've done a bunch myself with local riding parks and the occasional Preserve. They would actually confiscate your motor? Thats a bit extreme but then again I guess it may deter the average joe from riding where he isnt supposed to. Now, the loon, he's a different sort. Tend to see things different and terrorize country lanes on dirt bikes as well as the city streets on such bikes as the T.:lol:crazy

OT, great idea wae the trailer if yer can get the bits and pieces at reasonable prices. It wouldn't need to be braked either so I think it would be a good wee project fir yer. :thumbup

As for the handles to the front and back, on this occasion it would have made no difference because the bike had to come directly upwards to get it out. If you can imagine what it was sitting in was actually a channel whose walls were vertical and to a depth of aboot 36"-45" and aye fir sure you'de have burst a gut laughing at my Ariel antics then even more at my efforts to free ma machine.

WC, it's jist as well we're all Loons then.:flip :roost :wheelie :whoop
