Hey everyone,

I am new to the forum but have owned a 2009 Tuono R in blue and white chequers.

I sold it earlier this year and yes you guessed it I regretted it from day one!

I am now on the hunt for another one, I like the look of the Daytona 200 colour scheme on the R model which seems quite rare.

Does anyone know if its limited edition and if so how many were made?

Thanks all.

Daytona = Hen's teeth. if you want one and see one get it.

They also did do a Black Dream colour scheme on the last of the V2 Factory. Garry and Nob have had one if looking for pics.

I'm pretty sure there was 200 Daytona's made,...after the victory at the Daytona 200 races.I cant recall them having a numbered plaque,so not sure how limited.Brooksy has one,...mebbe he could enlighten us?

N.B, Gary and Nobs bikes were ordinary Factories with a fuel tank from the Black Lion RSVR.A homemade limited edition.

I also have one.

I can confirm it does not have a numbered plaque. As to how many were made, I have no idea :p

KB, nobs genuine black dream was written off after his 'ring excursion.

The next one was an 07 factory as you said, he then did the paint job to look like the black dream, then flogged it to Gary and so on.

after winning the Daytona 300 on the 04/03/2007 on an Aprilia Tuono R with a lions head decal on the tank Aprilia celebrated by making 300 Tuonos with lions head tank and special decals for the European market only, the only documented evidence of this is apparently in Italy but any Ape dealer who was around at the time should be able tell the tale.
if you are looking at buying one don't pay over the odds as when you come to part exchange a dealer will only give the same as any other R model

Bought it today!!

5700 Miles, Full dealer service history, Pretty much standard..
It's absolutely immaculate minus a couple of rusty bolts near the clutch slave.

Not as mint as My 59' reg blue and white chequer tuono I had but its probably as close as I can get.

Rather gutted it didn't have the akrapovics but I bought it simply for the paintwork.

I'm well chuffed and thanks for the replies, good to know I own one of 300 ;)

Thats the exact one I bought today! Got it for £4900 he wouldn't drop any more and rightly so, I do like the factory models but I'm not a fan of the bronze colour frame hence I wanted another R model.

Done a bit of digging,............
The Daytona 300 race is a support race to the more famous Daytona 200.
The 300 was an 8 hour endurance race for twin cylinder motorcycles. It was also known as the MOTO-ST series. There were 3 classes depending on power and weight.

Thanks very much and I agree totally.. Only thing is I have a rather large list to complete before spring..

Need Supercorsa track scrubs, Renthal Fatbars, Mivv exhausts..
Will require map 2 so I have no idea how much that will cost but needs to be done.

Could also do with changing the rear sprocket as it's just had new chain and sprockets but the previous owner opted for Renthal sprockets which are apparently made of cheese, was thinking of changing it for a gold talon one.

Also the clutch fluid is black, common problem with the original slave as far as I know, was thinking of updating it to an Oberon one I have seen..

That's an easy £400-£500 without insurance or tax!

Then I was thinking of having the original suspension set up for My Weight and fast road riding not track setup..

Again don't have a clue how much it will cost but would like it done for now!

Possibly I can update the rear shock at a later date.

Nice looking T, for what it's worht I am with you on the gold frame but that is all down to personal taste. The Ohlins are nice but I have an Ohlins shock and come spring will be off to McT to get the forks re-valved/sprung so should be as good as.:thumbup

Enjoy your T

Who told you that load of old bollocks,.....a Talon dealer?:lol
AFAIK,Talon and Renthall sprox are made out of the same grade alloy.

They all do that sir!Yes is looks odd,but it does not effect the operation of the clutch at all.Personally,I would'nt bother with the Oberon slave unless the original is faulty or leaking.

Save the sprocket and slave cyl money and buy a decent sidestand. But hey,its your bike,...you do what you like.

The original Sach rear shock is rubbish. You will be far better starting off with a decent shock before getting it set up.Loads of info on this,...do a search. Also you want to check if the dogbone bearings have been greased,...again loads of info here.
Showa forks are'nt too bad despite the adjustment being pretty crude. You can get them to work really well.
