Gen 2 charging issue again

Hi guys,

Before I will spend 200 quid on stator change, please can you advice on the issue?

Problem started on my way to Spain, onm a ferry queue i noticed engine temp going up to 100 C when on iddle. Only when I revved the engine up the fans would speed up and cooled the engine.
I managed to do 4000km round trip and only last week the bike started stuttering when ridden. When checked the voltage, dash was showing 11.5V. Stripped everything down today, cleaned brown connector, reg/rec plugs, earth on the bike etc. When plug disconnected yellow cables are showing:
- at iddle
y1-y2=20V AC
y1-y3=21V AC
y2-y3=4.5V AC

-at 4000rpm
y1-y2=58V AC
y1-y3=58V AC
y2-y3=4.6V AC

The reg/rec output when disconnected from the bike shows 20V DC and when connected to bike 11.5.

Question is:
Should I change reg/rec or stator
And if stator is it better to buy second hand or get a rewind job done and where?

Thanks for your help!

Looks like the stator definately.

You'll need
a new gasket unless you're lucky (any online aprilia spares )
stator (ebay...or forums)
oil, your's will probs be lookin a bit black and ****** (opie oils)
filter (any online aprilia spares )

alternatively, leave a post or PM Tash, great fella to deal with, fair prices & good service.

Thanks. I was thinking it was the stator. Is it difficult to change? Any tricks? I changed one once in my SV 650 and it was straight forward kinda job, but knowing italian engineering solutions sometimes....

yea gen2 done 600 miles so far, they are likely to fail again it just when ,no not hard to charge I also removed the connector and hard wired the stator

Great. I found it on the Electrexworld.co.uk it is 95 quid. Will order tomorrow. :cheers
