Up North.....
Hi there does anyone know if theres a rebuild kit available for the steering damper on the gen 1 T (the red one) as mine has a slight leak.....:rolleyes

I couldn't find one, or find anyone to rebuild it for a reasonable cost that works out less than buying an ohlins from a guy on another forum.
It was in near perfect condition as well for less than a ton.

Rexr, glad you got same bike as me, we will cover lots of topics in half the time lol. My damper has no leaks ,but it has no damping, the beast is shaking its head at every given opportunity. Keeps my attention though.....I keep looking for a replacement on Egay, I will have to be quick now there's competition out there...

I dont think the standard dampers are rebuildable.I think they are a bit cheap 'n nasty, tbh.
Oh yeah,....the bike will shake its head a bit,......lets face it,the T was origionally designed as a Mille with a full fairing and clip ons.:yes Aprilia's R&D boss reckoned the prototype bikes with no steering damper were right scarey beasts.:eek

I've seen a few gen 2 dampers on everyones fav bidding site and was wondering if they fitted..?? I can't stretch to a ohlins....:no

Part numbers are different mate,so I guess not.

Have a look on the aprilia performance old forum, there was one on there last week.
Regarding part numbers, I seem to recall that Batfastard had an Ohlins on his Tuoldo
and moved it onto his gen2 though I'm not 100% on that, I seem to recall that it was a near enough fit.
The one I bought was off an RSV mille and works a treat.

He did,.....but I seem to remember that the bracket needed altering in some way.Hmm,....Gen 2 Ohlins part no.SD175,.....Gen 1 Ohlins part no.SD133:dunno

Is the bracket part of the damper unit or are they seperate...???

Found a bit of info for ya.(God I'm good to you lot!)
The only difference I can find between the Gen1 and Gen2 dampers is that the Gen2 item has a slightly longer stroke.(A whole 2mm! Woo Hoo!)
So,going by that,I'd say a Gen2 damper would fit ok.

who's the daddy....:thumbup

Result fitted my replacement steering damper this morning, it came off a 08 gen 2 no leaks I'm well happy.....:thumbup

anyone that services the likes of hydraulic rams can generally service them and revalve them for you... as to the cost i have no idea.. but i wouldn't have figured it would be that much

Rexr, was it a straight swap, any fetling required? I need one for my 03 also..daz

Yep straight swap u can either swap the the complete item or just leave the bracket in situ or remove the little clips and slide the damper out up to urself and theres plenty of dampers on the bay......I have a right bargain as well.......:thumbup

Rexr, I will have a peek on the Bay. What did you pay, just to give me a figure to aim for, or is it a secret? pssst, if it is pm me m8...fD

Heres 2 the red one (gen 1) I nearly bought contacted the guy and he told me no leaks just needs a clean and a gen 2 which I think is a bit on the dear side...the price of mine is a secret ;)
