Gearing

I dare say that this topic has been done to death, but as I am a relatively new boy please bear with me. Std. gearing for a Factory 2009 is 16 - 40
and seems to tall in the lower gears.
What do you lot advise : 15 - 42, 16 - 43 or what?
Thanx.:confused

I've gone for 16 - 43 and feels ok, not so much riding the clutch on slow traffic.

Windy, the best road based gearing for your 2009 Factory is considered to be 15/42 and you can keep the standard chain length too. You'll be amazed at how much better the bike is

I'm currently running 15-42 and it's superb but while the bigger (front)sprocket(?) has higher mileage I'm swapping to 16-44 which is almost the same with 15-42.

I've found with 15-40 the chain is a little too long (2004 factory 116 link chain).
Set correctly with new chain no more than 10mm more rearward adjustment is available.

Tempted to try the 15/42 option.
My bike is a 2008 RSV1000R (Bol D'or)
Will this gearing work ok with standard length chain, and what is standard length for my bike?
