grate this in't it , but I carnt get my head rownd the 15-42 set up , rideing the bike hard rownd my fave twistys ,the bike is reving so hard , I feel like I am going to through a valv aspesherley wen yousing engin brakeing . eney one out there yousing 16-43 , as this I think wood be just right for me , but dont whont the expence of the 43 tooth sprocket iff it is going to cach my left hand header pipe to the link pipe of the exhourst .

is there anuff space to do this .

give it a while free'. i changed to 15/42 an thought it a bit revvy at first...but now i think it's perfect gearing. when riding slow i hardly need to change down for overtaking etc and when riding hard i can keep bike in the 6500-1000 rpm power band. it's also great if lots of luggage etc when touring.
i jus think it;s best all round IMHO.

I think you will be going the wrong way with 16/43.If 15/42 is too low a gearing for your taste, why not leave the 15t as it is and slip the std 40t sprock back on?
I'm running 15/40,works for me,....the bike still wheelies like a ******* on a whiff of throttle in 2nd.

What piker said. Anything over city speeds and the bike can be ridden in the country in third or fourth gear... And ridden hard. Yeehaw!!

Well for what it’s worth, I did the 15Tooth front sprocket yesterday.
Out today, all I can say is, best £18 mod yet.
If any one is still not convinced go try it.
I wish I had done it for running in.
This would have made the process easier.
A truly first rate mod.
When they say it transforms the bike it really is true.
So much smoother, more comfortable riding too.
Might well put the 16t back on for long journey, but so far good job.
I managed to get into 6th gear on one of my normal runs where 4th or 5th max would have been the order of the day.

What I shoud have sed was eney one runing 16-43 , will the chain cach my header pipe , I think theres room for the 43 , A mate is going to lend me one so I can see .
15-40 I have fitted but the spindel dose sit a long way back in the swing arm chain looks as though it needs a link and a half taken out mite go to this wen I get a new chain fitted , I am running now 16-42 ****** grate for chaceing ZX-10s As I fownd out today;);) keeps the frunt end down a bit beter in second, good for getting the frunt end up on the whoops in the road .

Knobs the standed gearing is allrite but I dont need 180mph on a neckid bike , I whont to be in second for rownderbowts not 1st a rownderbowt is a Hair pin , I whont second gear for hairpins wen I get out to the alps next year .

Theres onley 2-MPH in it between 15-40 and 16-42 , at 9500 rpm .
Parhaps I shoud go 15-41 I think this wood werk as well ,on the gen two ,I youst to run all the time on my Gen one 16-43 wich werked a treet allrownd , this is good for werking things out once you get your head rownd it with the loading up ;).
http://www.gearingcommander.com/ you can spend to much time on this !!!! .

One quick question... why the **** do you think so many of us hae gone tae a 15/42? P'raps cuz it's the easiest cheapest mod to smooth out your T and make it rideable for us mortals at speeds less than 160 kph.

yeah shovel..keeps it in the power band easily. i surprise the **** outta fireblades etc all the way to 125/130...then i jus sit up and pretend i've lost interest in them..(really its the point where naked vs sport bike comes into play..lol) tho' i've bin over 140 on this gearing..not tried max yet.

Absolutely frig all wrong with the standard set up. I defy anyone not to be impressed with my bike and I've done nothing to the gearing. Rumbles along in 3rd at 30mph no problem at all. Cans, Rene, nice levers for slipping the clutch when needed. Sorted.

Mine was a pain in the *** to run at anything less than 35 mph. Better pick up, more manners at low speeds, and it tops out in sixth gear instead of fifth now. I much prefer the 15/42. I guess if yer a scrawny little pissant like nob, the stock gearing may be ok... but I need a little extra grunt to get my 20 stone rolling.

LOL , Now we are getting down to it I spose , wate dose come into it for some of us , as for smoothing the T out mine has been grate never snachy , but then agayn my larst bike was a KTM 990 Super Duke ,and what a snachy pile of **** that was ,under powerd and twichy as hell **** rownd town ,and I did 28.000 miles on it , and loads of fun wen it wasent brakeing down  its cheeper to oun and service a MV Brutale , KTM.s are nice bikes but feck me the stealers have you with your pants down , for serviceing .
