Hi All
Just joined this forum..so Hello!

Thought I'd share an unfortunate experience and hopefully find out if anyone has had similar problems. Ive got a 2012 V4 just done 8000kms and the gearbox tore itself to bits on the way to work a month ago! Fortunately all nicely repaired under warrentee but now I'm scratching my head as to why it could happen on such a new machine...and obviously worrying if it happened again outside of warrentee.

Has anyone had problems with the gear going into 'false neutral' when using the quickshifter? I've had it happen a few times usually in the higher gears 3-4th, 4th-5th etc but put in down to operator error, eg wrong revs, too much or not enough throttle etc. All the times its happened before theres been no horrible grinding noises but when the box went, you could literaly hear every tooth on each cogs tearing off.. not nice! (I will post some pics soon). Usually in false neutral you can just drop the clutch and pop it into a lower ration and your away. This time though it jammed between 4th and 5th on wouldnt go up with clutch in. On the 3rd attempt it went into 5th but stripped the box to bits. I managed to get it down to 3rd and nurse it to the hard shoulder, fortunately not much traffic on the motorway at 6am.

Has anyone experienced similar issues with the quickshifter? Any advice on the best use of it would be much appreciated!
Cheers

this recently happened to me. On the freeway going 80MPH the bike was in fifth and I was trying to shift into 6th, 6th would NOT engage.. I heard some awful grinding, took the next exit to slow down, and the rear tire locked up completely even with clutch in. luckily no drop, just scared me. I had bike towed to my local dealer, they are " not sure " if this is under warranty. Any advice you have for how you got it covered under warranty would be appreciated.
