Gear Ratios - New RSV Owner

Hi all, I have just acquired a 2003 RSV Mille after having been on a CBR600RR. It is the first V-Twin I have ever owned and I am having a bit of a problem with gear selection.

I'm pretty sure that it has had the front sprocket changed to 1 tooth lower.

When turning into a road/junction I find that 1st Gear is too low and 2nd Gear is too high. I find myself having to either slip the clutch or fully engage the clutch and coast.

Do I just need to get used to it or am I missing something?

Welcome m8 Slipping the clutch is good or change the rear sprocket up a couple, but i think the best thing to do is just go for it lean it over and enjoy the grunt ,it will have a bit more midrange than the honda, i garauntee in a few months you will be givin it ye ha and lovin it:devious:biggrin

You'll probably find yourself getting used to just slipping the clutch in second m8. I think thats the easiest way to smooth it out.

Congrats on the new bike !! Get some pics up eh

Same problem when I got mine (2006 model) but went up 2 teeth on rear sprocket and one less on front and now it will pull in second no problem without slipping the clutch. Plus accelerates way quicker. Best mod you can do. I think it's 15 front and 42 rear but check out the forum there's loads on this.
