hi,
im hoping that someone on here will be able to help me with wiring a gear indicator into my rsv. it has 3 wires all different colours, one orange one red and the last one black. please can you tell me which wires to attach these to and where.
i think the indicator is a datatool item.

many thanks
tristan

Only 3 colours?

My datatool digi has 6 wires

Datatool have info on thier site for the tuono but im not sure it is the same

And each rsv has different wiring which makes it harder still

ok thanks dynamo,

why cant italian wiring be simple????? i will check the datatool website for details.

My digi also has 6 wires. The instuctions were all wrong and l had to sort it out myself but got there in the end.

I've got it all writen down somewhere so if you get stuck let me know but there should be 6 wires.

Russ

ah after stripping the outer casing of the wires back i have found another 3 wires so that is 6 in total. and russ if you could send me any details of how to fit it to the rsv that would be ace.
thanks tris

What year is ur rsv?

I done the wifes 08 tuono last night and im sure its was the same as my 08 rsv

All the wiring needs ran to under the back seat except the orange wire which needs to go to an earth somewhere,

You will need at least 8m wire , solder iron, heat shrink or good tape and cable ties

Connections for a later tuono and probably the later rsv also

Black is groung/negative goes to battery or dark blue to tail light
red is ingnition live and you connect that to the yellow that goes to the tail light
yellow is the tachopulse and that goes to connector a pin 33 grey/red
green is the speedo pulse and goes to connector b pin 6 grey/white
brown is the neutral lightand goes to connector b pin 40 heavy black
and orange is the learner wire

Once connected switch the ignition on and hold the orange wire to earth till the reading shows flashing p

disconnect the orange wire and touch it on and off till you see 6 showing on the digi, it will go 1 2 3 4 5 6 as you touch it

Then start the bike in neutral then drop into first and rev the bike over 2000 revs till the 1 flashes faster then goes to a bar

change gear to neutral and pause then move to second and rev to over 200 till again the 2 flashes fast and changes to a bar

Do this for all gears

Voila

P.s. if your bike is an old slow one then disregard the above lol

hi dynamo im afraid i have the old slow rsv its an 02 grey/silver red and black one. i have found some basic fitting instructions on the datatool website. if anyone has a description like yours but for my 02 rsv i would really appreciate it.
many thanks tris

Have you sorted it yet. My bike's in paint at the moment so l can't check it.

I have 2 lots of information and l can't remember which one is correct. 1 is as above the other is different.

Let me know how you're getting on.

Russ

The top instruction are for a 07 rsv factory and tuono

The bottom one is for an 02 rsv

both off the datatool site

Right

The other details l have are as follows for the 01/02 Mille

Ignition - Green
Neutral - Brown/Pink
Speedo - Grey/White
Tacho - Grey/Violet
Earth - Dark Blue

All connections are behind the clocks.

Hope this helps.
