Hi all,
Great forum and heaps of swearing! Great place!

I used the search but found nothing really. I currently own an ST Sprint. It's an 08 and I have a buyer. As much as I love this bike, and it's my best bike ever, I need to get some money out to help repair my car. A wall appeared from nowhere...as they do :dunno
Anyway, the ins co have screwed me and I'm up for a huge bill, so the bikes gotta go to help fund the repairs. Bbut I will still have enough to buy a Tuodo with 6000 km's. It's an 03 dark gray and was bought into NZ as an old model in 08. I can get it for a great deal.
Has anyone jumped from a Sprint ST into a Tuono?
The reviews are amazing and the build is the best I have seen.
Any advise?
Cheers

Not from a Sprint to a Tuono but have owned and ridden most bikes :)

Advice... ummm... Enjoy the bike :)

I've gone from a Sprint RS to a T. The T is a LOT harder. Faster, twitchier, but more rewarding when ridden hard and fast. My RS was one of the best all rounders I have ever had, and I would own one again in a heartbeat. That being said, I still have 40K on my '07 Tuono... it can and will tour. She just entices you to be a bit more aggressive in the twisties.

Thanks for the input.
I am finding it hard to let go of my ST, but I have to do something.
I'm going to check out the Tuono before committing to sell mine, but the weight of the T sounds really appealing. There are twisties at the bottom of my gate, straits, hills and buggar all traffic, so the T sounds like the go.
Cheers

911. Don't think you'll regret it, if you get the T. IMO it's one of the Koolist of the Kool bikes OPE (grey & gold).:thumbup

I currently own both a 2006 Sprint and a 2008 Tuono. I've had the Sprint for a little over a year and the Tuono for just over a couple of months. I've never ridden the the first gen T's, but if it's anything like my 08, it is a wonderful bike to ride. It has a habit of wanting to go fast, but so does my Sprint. The ergo's between the Sprint and the T are different as I lean forward more on my Sprint than the T. The T carves corners better than the Sprint, but the Sprint is better for longer rides (over 400 miles or so). I did a 800+ mile weekend trip on the T three weeks ago and got off without being sore and that was with the standard, somewhat unconfortable looking seat. Windblast on the T was pretty bad over 70 mph, so I added an Ermax windscreen which helped a lot - buffetting is about the same between the bikes now (the Sprint has an OEM screen). I've just purchased a 2nd hand Ventura rack for the T so that I can use my Ventura bags that I use on the Sprint with it (they don't look great on the bike but they allow me to carry enough gear for a long weekend trip). I'm thinking about changing my gas cap to a yoyodyne cap so that I can mount my Bags Connection tank bag on the T. I can't stand tank bags that touch the tank and from experience I think that the SW-MOTECH mounts are the best. With the SW-MOTECH mounts, the bags are simple to install and remove, so all of my valuables go in the tank bag and the bag goes with me at most stops. The bottom line is that the T can accommodate touring needs and it is simply a blast to ride. If I had to get rid of one of my two bikes, I'd reluctantly sell the Sprint and keep the T. BTW, I'm 53 and riding the T brings the kid out in me - it's fun to ride fast on the T.

How lucky am I hearing from you! Thanks for the comments and I am pretty convinced that the Tuono will be a great bike. If I have any complaints for my ST it's the weight in the twisties, and lets face it, thats where the fun is to be had. Plus the gearbox is rugged, but apart from that the ST is amazing.
Plus in NZ 800 miles will get you a long way! My rides are 200 miles at the most either way.
I have spent nearly all day looking at write up's and I don't there's a bike out there with more glowing reviews than the T.
Tonight the decision will be made as long as my buyer doesn't back out.
It would awesome to have both like you, but I also have a 911 Turbo that needs some repairs :no
Thanks again

I had a Sprint ST a couple of bikes before the T, including a Fazer1000, 954 blade and a 636. The T is the most fun out of all the bikes. You will enjoy it

There's another guy that frequents the Sprint ST forum http://www.triumphrat.net/sprint-forum/ and the A1 Tuono forum http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=51 and I believe that he goes by shovelstoked or something like that. He also owns both bikes and loves his T. It's really hard to compare the bikes as I use them for different types of riding. I love the sound of the triple (it's just sweet), but the twin with the right pipes (I just put Tigcrafts on my T) sound damn good too. My belief is that you can't go wrong with the Tuono. It's just a damn fun bike to ride and did I say that it's fast? WOT in any gear, but especially the lower gears, takes some getting used to. My first experience scared the crap out of me. I gained immediate respect for the bike that day. The only downside of the Tuono (IMHO) is that it's not built for 2-up riding. Unlike my Sprint where I never heard any complaints from riders on the back, but I have had complaints about the T.

Two up is never going to be a problem for me. My wife hates bikes. Sweet!
Well my buyer wants my bike and he's coming later today or tommorrow, so I will wait and see what happens.
The look of the ST is hard to beat, but then on some angles the T looks very mennacing for a naked. I love the look of the T.
I have been on the Trumpy site so I will have a gander there later.
Thanks again

I've had my T for nearly two years now - and to sum it up in one work - RAW!

It feels like it is grabbing fistfuls of the road and throwing them out the back. Great traction, great power, great sound. Unbelievably fun. Not a 4 cylinder turbine that howls, this is a snarling spitting beast. I rode a Benelli TNT the other day for ***** and giggles, and it was a pussy cat, just so well mannered, and not as much fun as the T!

We need more T riders in NZ!:thumbup

By feck you and 911 like to write, are you bored, or like the Blighty mob, feck by the weather?

He he!

Hearing all the stories reminds me of when I lived in Glasgow, riding to work every day along the M8. The grit sure makes a mess. Had a bandit 600 back then. Liked the snow and ice - I had the heated grips whis was nice (and yes, I do have a penis, that is just a rumour about heated grips).:eek

I tried those tyre warmers too, but they got stuck in the brakes and after about 5 metres the plug pulled from the wall so they were useless as all fu** for warming the tyres while riding. :dunno

Anyway, the weather here is awesome. Too hot. The ashphalt is melting and leaving sticky spots. I have to ride in my underpants to stay cool:blues

Not so great the sunburnt butt crack...

Right-o, off to clean those F%^$ing white wheels again.

Go for it, am currently in the North island Auckland visiting friends and after sampling ur roads towards the Bay of Islands down through Rotorua and on to lake Taipoi (forgive the spellings bro) u will lve the T. The country is built for it!!!!!!!!!!

Well I'll post a couple of pics showing my adventure on a Bandit S (sorry babe but the shipping was just to expensive lol) this country is built for bikes. However the driving skills of kiwi's is bloody terrible??????

Kia Bro and just do it........

Cheers Welsh man abroad.
