Gas take-off bolt

Just a quickie - can anyone confirm that the rear exhaust gas analyser blanking bolt is a 10mm thread?
Started to wind a 10mm bolt in there tonight (lost the old one) and got that 'oh no, you don't want to do this' feeling on the thread. Didn't have much time so I left it for now.
Is it just a gammy old thread or am I about to strip it by putting the wrong size in - don't see what else it could be?
Thanks.

Si, i found an old bolt in a box for boyler so couldnt tell ya matey, its just listed as an intake screw on my diagrams.

Wilst it may very well be a nominal 10mm bolt ( sorry, not in a position to check mine at the mo) be advised it could be either a coarse (normal) [email protected] pitch OR a fine pitch ( more likely in this application I guess) which would be 1.25mm.

The fine pitch would be less prone to working loose due to vibration, heat cycles etc so that would be my guess.

Unfortunately this is the least common of the two. Trying to force the wrong one will distort the thread at best, destroy it worst case.

Please keep us informed when you find out which thread it is? Usefull info to have.

Good luck.

Er, yeah, I'll try that Stu, thanks.
Alas my local bolt shop is supposed to be trade only and they've just imposed a £10 minimum transaction:jack - which means I'm adding to my stock of ratchet spanners each time I go but it's making buying 50p bolts fecking expensive!
Thanks Ian, think you may be right.
