Galfer front discs? WTF!!!

C

carbon kid

Had my front galfers for about 10k miles now, and the buggers are loose as FCUK,:rant the bobbins have worn the alloy carriers and the discs rattle about and move laterally about 4mm(eek)...and apparently, Galfer dont do rebuild kits?!, mebbe gonna try a rebuild kit from Braking. Any ideas?
cheers

PS- just fitted some Storms, kneedown in the rain..yee haw

I like Storms :thumbup:thumbup

I'm sure if more people got over their '' I'm that fast I NEED track rubber '' willy waving mentality they would have a hell of a following.

I've got them on my Sv1000s and I've done 3 trackdays in the dry and about 1500 road miles, they are just starting to change profile slightly around the middle and still have almost as much tread as a new Michelin etc.

They are trustworthy wet weather tyres and warm up really quickly unlike the Michelin ***** that I inherited on the Mille,I don't even trust those in the dry, bloody things let go with no provocation at all.

kno wot you mean re the storms, after my 20 min wet morning commute they were nice and warm..which was surprising! (I have never botheres with michelins on the mille.)

Another plus for Avon Storms. A matey has them fitted to his ZX12R and rates them very highly indeed. Many reports rate them too and as an allround sports road tyre, they seem excellent

Had exactly the same problem about a year ago bud.....sent mine to all bike engineering (A.B.E - at the recommendation of Badger) they redid the bobbins and delivered for (i think?) about £80!! They came back with VERY little movement (actually ZERO movment at the bobbins, which concened me a bit) buthave since used them for 6k miles and have ben 100%!!

As for the Avons.............:thumbup Had them on the Blackbird and they were great, Currently running Pilot Road 2 2ct's on the Tuono and i find them excellent!! Will be either of those 2 next time too, whichever is the best del at the time!!!:thumbup

nice one Andi, will send mine to them then.
cheers for that.!!

i've had the same problems with my discs. The problem is the washers in the bobbins break up and fall out. I have one as loose as fcuk and the other is fine.
I'm hoping to get new bobbins pressed into the bad disc

plus I got mine, all inc fitting for 220!, not 3 bad.
