having done the buttons on the front disc i still have massive juddering at high speed braking and pulsing at low speed. leads me to believe that my discs are farked.

so

does anyone know if these will fit a 2003 tuono fighter?

cant find a definitive answer. some say that this part number (AP8133781) is for the later models. checking parts fiches i get given about 3 different options so am none the wiser...

any help appreciated.

thanks

tom

silly as it sounds, but i had a similar problem on a yzf 750 years ago.

turned out to be a misshapen front tyre from the bike standing for a while, I was convinced it was the discs

thought about that, but dont think it would give the same symptoms. in this case i get juddering when braking at high speed, like i am going over rumble strips. and then lurching at low speeds. and then sometimes it doesnt do it at all. (very very rare)

what does anyone reckon?

had the same thing on my ducati and believe it or not what cured it was a complete caliper service, pistons out good clean etc...Worth a try before you fork out your hard earned !!!

I had exactly the same symptoms on my old Mille. New discs (second hand) worked for me, but worth trying the caliper thing first like Dave B says...

yes the discs are the same and will fit
the only difference is the newer disc carriers are painted and not anodised
they are genuine discs as well (bought by the dealer on a deal from aprilia hence the cheap price)

aweseome, thanks guys.

cleaned the calipers at the weekend, new pads so not that. looks like new discs!

ah well. still, once this is done the grin machine should be perfect!

While your there, take a look at the steering head bearings. Without the wheel on the forks you'll be better able to feel any trouble. Just a thought.

New discs on this morning, all good!

Heat in the tyres, giggling when I got off. 3rd gear 80ish, front going light! Teehee

The disks on first gens had big probs with the petal type springs that held the rotors on the "O" connectors from the interior mount to the disk. The petal type springs were intended to hold the disk in it's position because it was a floating design, but some became pissey and gave you that vibration feel similar to a warped rotor. There is a fix, involves removing the petal springs or bending the geepers out of them. I replaced mine to fix it because it sucked riding with a warped sense of breaking.

Yeah, tried bending the petals out, and cleaning, on the back of the buttons but no joy... Yesterday was a bit of a revalation...

Although I've not tried it, it is my understanding that removing them all together is better than bending them out. They do make a clicking sound after their removal I hear, but it's nothing too bad.
