Fuelling issues

My '08 Factory has Akrapovic cans on it, marked "Aprilia Racing", which make a lovely noise, but the fuelling is off at lower revs, around 3kish. On a constant throttle its surging and spluttering to the extent I'm using 1st alot around town to get the revs higher.

Would switching it to "Map 2" help this?

From what I understand, doing this needs a workshop equipped with Aprilia kit normally only owned by Aprilia dealers. How right am I with this? Anyone know of any other workshops in the Thames Valley that has the necessary kit?

Map 2 should sort the problem mate and can be done by an Ape dealer as an axone is required

Hi Oldtwat,
Not sure about Newbury but you have On yer bike out by Aylesbury who are an official Aprilia dealer but might be worth trying Dave Wood Racing also in Aylesbury as he does a lot of ECU setup and tuning so may have the right stuff.
He's a top bloke too.

May not be related, but I was having a problem with my bike sputtering & backfiring when riding between 4-5K RPMs, just fine above/below or accellerating/slowing down. Turned out to be the mini adjustment valve.

No need for pardons, I knew nothing about it either. It helps regulate the idle and (apparently) that includes a steady speed at certain revs. I just knew my bike was acting like crap, so I took it to an Aprillia dealer and he recognized the sound when I pulled in and knew what it was before I even got off the bike! Item #12 in this drawing. ($12 USD)

I can see why I didn't know about it. ....my bike is a Gen1 and the airbox does not include that part.

Cheers :cheers

Gray :yes

I tried the Aprilia dealers nearest me, but this is their busiest time of year so I was being offered slots in two, three, four weeks time. In the end PDQ in Taplow were able to fit me in at short notice and I got it switched to Map 2. It's running alot better than it was and is much smoother on part throttle at lower revs.

Just waiting for my 15t front sprocket to arrive I reckon that will make it even nicer to ride :)
Thanks for all your suggestions.....
