i have got a question to ask i have been finding that when i get of the bike and switch off engine i can smell a strong petrol smell coming from the exhausts.

do u think that the bike is running to rich as i have found that i get about 114 miles from the bike before the fuel light comes on

its running with a power commander 3 me thinks that needs setup right.

Are you sure its from the exhausts and not from under the tank :dunno i had a similar prob on my mille and it was the fuel line connection that was leaking ... or like you say it could just need setting up but following a friends tuono the other day , his smelt strongly of petrol but his has been set up properly :confused

If you're getting that many miles from a tankful I would say there isn't much wrong with the setup. More likely to be from under the tank as Steve said. I had a strong smell of petrol after propping the tank up, that took quite a while to go, the smell that is :happy

I was riding that tuono Steve was following and as I told him, it was a 'fast' smell, not petrol. Seriously though, mine has just been set up by our friendly Aprilia expert (he'll kill me for saying that) in Tamworth so it's not that. I have heard others complain of this so it's either:

1 As Steve says so check under your tank or,

2 An Aprilia characteristic

If you're getting 114 to a tankful that's OK too. So do I.

The petrol smell from mine was coming from a worn or over tightened fuel line washer .... it was nipped up and it stopped it but i was supposed to be sent a new one that didn't arrive :angry
