Fuel warning light?

I am running in my Tuono R and I need a bit of advice. I find the fuel warning light seems to go on at about 100-120 miles. When I refuel I usually add +/- 3 gallons. I believe the T holds about 4.76 gal of petrol. It seems the warning lamp is a bit premature. My question is, in your experience how far does one go on average before the need to refuel?

Thanks,
Bonz

Hey up Bonzer,
I must admit some of the tech info is confusing cos some say the tank holds 17L and some say 18L....mine hold just short of 18L.
Ive had 162 miles out of mine before it ran dry and I had to use my 1ltr back up container....I guess you could get slightly more or less mileage its just a matter of how much your addicted to the throttle and the sound of that big V thundering and blitzing every other sports bike out there.

Hi Bonz

Yes mate, the fuel "warning" light is more like a fuel "you better think about getting some more fuel in a little while, or even tomorrow" light. Mine comes on with around 7 litres left in the tank.:banghead

Just another little Italian idiosyncrasy.

mmmmm mine is very consistant comes on after 170 to 190 klms depending on excitement level as a rule that leaves me with around 40 klms up my sleeve with a measured 18 liter tank.. Working on 4.5 liters left when light comes on which is also very consistant & acurate.... cheers Towie
P.S my computer regularly (every couple of weeks) resets when starting & then i have no idea

mines regular as you like ...79miles and the light comes on ...... i think ur right about the light being a bit early when it comes on...

Just think if we all rode jap sports bikes we would have none of this worthless banter going on.... how lucky are we to have such exotic animals with little idiosyncrcies....
Not sure about that spelling thou

I've seen the light come on at 170 being heavy handed and at 210-220 taking it easy.

I had to walk it to a petrol station once smack on 260 kms when I thought I still had 10km to go. That little episode proved to me that getting a full 18lt into the tank is actually pretty hard. I did it but it was filling up back up the filler hole. There is no extra hidden litre in that tank, that's for sure.

Towie get a yuasa YTX14-BS(normally a YTX12-BS) battery and all your reset problems will go away. I was having the same problems with a new cheapo battery. I then bought the yuasa and never looked back. You will need to make a spacer for the battery retainer to cater for the taller battery though, the RSV was fitted with a YTX14-BS as standard so there is plenty of room.

Mine comes on about 80 miles or so into a full tank. I know the actual range must be better.

My light first came on at about 80ish miles but testerday came on at 47 miles!!!...bit odd:crazy
God knows what the tank range is!!
