01 metal? Shouldn't it be plastic?

This is when all gets a little confusing. I have a 99 Mille according to chassis number but it is on a 01 plate.

Late registered 1999 models then. Been mentioned elsewhere but the 98-99 models had metal tanks & red front calipers. The 00 had plastic/gold, 01 saw the more radical facelift

early r's had a plastic tank I have an 00 non r = metal tank
