fuel tank query

Hi...does anyone know of a decent place in South Wales that weld up the seam of a metal fuel tank.....

often cheaper to buy a second hand one, not many places will do fuel tanks these days.

k try one of those tank internal epoxy thingys that seal the inside of the tank.

I used one aboot ten years ago to seal the inside of a rusty tank and it's still good today.

If yer deffo want it welded then am sure a local fabrication shop would oblige.

If you fill it with water it makes it safer & more likely to get someone to weld it.

No need fir that OT, just get it off the whitever, empty and vent fir a few days, clamp shut the seem and cover any holes in the tank.

If it's a bike tank and provided there's enough metal left on the seem it's a simple job.

Thanks everyone...off to find a metal fabricator then...

I well remember doing this when I was a kid....I left it to soak overnight, emptied it out...and took it to the fella who was going to weld it...

"here"... he said..."here's the torch" (lit) , ...."before I start...I wanna see you stick this inside the tank through the filler"

me... being naive as ****, and with the bravado and stupidity that only a teenager could have, took the torch...and shoved it into the tank....

WHOOOOOOOSH!

a blue flame shot out of the end, the tank span around on the garage floor.....and I nearly shat myself....other than singed eyebrows there was no damage done...
meanwhile...matey (the welder) couldn't do the job for 20 minutes....he was too busy pissing himself laughing....

Purge it with exhaust fumes for a while to avoid the above, though it did make me laugh Tifa :yes
