Hi all,
Since riding my new Mille (02 Reg), I don't seem to get many miles before the fuel light comes on. With it being a new bike to me I soon fill up and can only get about £10 worth in. With that thing being inside the petrol tank I can't see how much fuel is left from previous fill ups.

Is the reserve massive or is the fuel tank small?

On another note, I need a new right hand ear/wind deflector in silver if possible. Mine has a couple of marks and think it would be cheaper to replace than respray. So if anyone knows of anyone with a spare, please let me know!

Cheers all :dunno

hi bud, i get approx 110 miles before light comes on but mine's a '00 model. How many miles are you getting before the light??

Hi Guildy :thumbup mines a 2000 model with metal tank (bigger volume than your model i think) and i can get 160 taking it easy, including 20 miles when low level light illuminates, and filling up costs about £15-16 :dunno. I would have thought you'd get more than £10 in yours tho' but i'm sure someone with the same bike will confirm that before long :thumbup

Cheers guys, I think as i'm only fitting in a tenners worth the light is coming on after 80-90 miles. Depends on riding style. As i'm only managing to fit in 11 lts or so evry fill up it's either the tank being small or reserve being large. I just don't know!

There is no reserve tap matey (not on mine anyway..i think.. lol) just a low level indicator :thumbup

i think the plastic tank is 18 litres where as the 2000 metal tank was a colosal 20. I've not had my mille long and my light comes on at 102ish. As i only fit about a tenners worth in too surely (and bear in mind i am mathematically challenged) that the reserve should be huge. I just don't chance. If i've worked it out correctly then we should get about 50 miles toour reserve.

Any one fancy trying it out for me?

So in theory I should have a spare 5 ltrs at least? Good news i guess, I just don't trust reserves and fuel lights!!!! Also I read somewhere about oil levels... Can anyone tell me what the level is meant to be on the seethrough pipe when the engine is cold and on its side stand? This surely is easier than warming the engine and standing upright!?

2002 rsvr. i have been getting 120-130 miles to reserve (80 - 90 mph open road and a few full throttle blasts) and 20 miles reserve at 70 - 80 mph with still fuel sloshing around in bottom of tank. i reckon it should do 160 if i took it easy.

its a lightly modded bike (can, chip, derestricted with 16/45 gearing)
hope this helps

I reckon on there being about a fiver's worth left when the light comes on, can do about 40 miles before I get too scared and pull in for fuel. When the price of fuel peaked, I used to spend £15 a fill, now about £12-£13 when the light's been on a while...

My daily commute is a round trip of 99.8 miles, I fill up each day on the way home at the same petrol station and I spend between £9.10 and £10.50 depending on how I have been rising.. i.e wet weather, icey, lots of bursts of overtaking on a nice day T
The light has only come on once before I got to the petrol station on commute, on weekends its about 110 -130 before I get a warning

(mines a 99)

I got 03 mod and get 90mil on full tank then light comes on but i cane it all the time i can:devious:biggrin

Cheers all. I will pay more attention to miles now. Think it just gets through them so quick I don't know how far i've been :) Anyway, anyone know where I can get a silver right hand ear for an 02 rsv mille?

I got a 99 and so far my best is 135 then light on and put in 16 litres. worst has been about 80 miles on a tank :( good ride :)
average for me is 125-130 then in to a petrol station

Think i read someone who ran out of fuel on a 2003 rsvr could only get about 14.5 litres in whilst on sidestand, i know you can squeez a fair bit more in by sitting on bike so bike is upright, as long as your cap seals well :)

you lads want to think yourselves lucky, when I took the firstorm out I used to get around 80 miles max and that was down to the wire before i had to put a full tank in.....
