fuel pump not priming

Got a mile up the road tonight bike stopped dead, pushed it home and had an hour in the oxygen chamber. it last did this about 8 weeks ago while out with sprocker but eventually started this time its totally dead.it cranks over fine but the pump isn't priming, no buzzing noise. all the dash lights are fine.heard about the wires in the pump bin dodgy so removed the pump checked the wires they show continuity with the meter no matter how hard you pull on them.
The bikes fitted with a datatool 3 alarm, its a 03 edwards. ive waggled wires disconected and plugged stuff back in still nothing. i can't see it being the kill switch or sidestand switch cause it cranks over just no priming, the last time it conked out i checked these once it started. kill switch in bike wont crank, sidestand switch don't effect the fuel pump as far as i know.:dunno
any ideas before i buy a zx10.

thanks mate i'll check them, regarding the kill switch when its pressed in does it stop the pump and also stop the engine from cranking .Can anyone try it for me ie; button in turn the ignition on and listen for the pump just to double check. also is the pump relay interchangable with any other relay just to eliminate it.thanks

also check the 15 amp fuse.

If it's blown suspect the speedo sensor which is on the same power circuit as the fuel pump.

The kill switch if used will not allow the pump to work or allow the engine to turn over, those two relays are the same and can be swapped, but IIRC if one is dodgy it wont work anyway, there are a couple on ebay at the moment for about £4 each, new ones are about £7

thanks badger i'll go for the fuel pump relay first seeing as the engine still cranks over, premier bikes is about ten miles away or i'll get in touch with sprocker and rob some bits of his :devious checked the fuses there all good.

Hi Mark, still having problems eh :confused I'm on nights but if you want to try my relays give us a bell and i'll pop down with them, or you can pick them up :thumbup I leave for work at 17:45 so let me know sharpish :thumbup

thanks dave as you know ive sorted it, after checking everything including pump out of tank it was a dodgey wire going into the block conector leading down to the feckin sidestand anyway were back up running and to be honest i really enjoyed workin on the bike:inlove here' afew pics the last one is the offending wire.:thumbup

Glad you got her sorted mate, nice bike too.

I bypassed the sidestand switch on my Futura to stop it causing problems, if you do the mod it leaves the warning light on so you know the stand is down.

F@@k me Mark she's as clean with her clothes off as she is fully dressed, gald you enjoyed tinkering I'd have been stoving its head in with a lump hammer before I found the offending connection

how do i do the sidestand mod so the light stays on ? hopefully thats the end of the matter, it din't really inspire confidence going into a corner covering the clutch incase it cut out:eek: had to push it a mile last night in full leathers back home it weighs a feckin ton felt a reet nob cars goin past blastin their horns, anyway not to worry if the weathers ok on saturday im off to the coast. :biggrin

The other side of that block connector you show has a black and brown wire with a green in the middle, you need to join the black and brown together, you can solder or use a scotchlock, basically that is it:thumbup
