Hey guys, just wondering about the average fuel mileage out there. I haven't run mine dry yet, but I'm getting my warning light coming on around 110-120 kms (about 70ish miles). I've got new plugs in, cleaned the K&N and I've got Map2 with de-baffled OEM pipes. This seems pretty short, considering I'm really just riding around town, with the odd ham-fisted throttle mash for giggles. Is this normal? I used be able to get up to about 200kms before the light came on my old GSXR 750.

Cheers

Mines about the same, unless I'm pootling along the motorway. It cones on, and off, and on, and off for a while usually starting around 70 miles and stays on solid from around 80 miles. I have taken it to 100 miles so far but too scared to take her any further!

That isnt excessively low for town riding. You obviously use low gears so the engine is revving but you aint going very far, simples:thumbup

Do some simple maths using the fuel pump (I mean at the petrol station). When you fill up, how much goes in? Remember you have an 18 litre tank. I did the maths in the Alps this year:

Motorway riding at 90mph and we were getting 120-130 miles when the light came on, then only put 13 litres in. So, simple maths says the reserve is 5 litres and in theory we could've got 180 miles out of it! (Would've been touch and go and pulled any crap through so not a good idea but puts one's mind at ease.

Even in the mountains fuel light would come on at about 90 miles, again, using simple maths and a reserve of 5 litres that still equates to a safety net of about 34 miles.

To begin with we were filling up at around 100 miles to be safe but ended up only sticking 11-12 litres in.

P.S. no we weren't pootling around, yes we were hamfisted, yes we did town riding too. :nana

My bike consumes 6.7 l/100 km. So the light comes on at 190-200 km and the tank is dry after 275 km. The bike has Arrow pipes, PC3 and map2.
