Hi all,
I picked my bike up on Saturday afternoon and wow! What a machine. (2003 mille in Matt black).
Anyway, went for quick spin and within a couple of miles, the fuel light came on. I went and filled it up, only took 14ltrs which surprised me, and set off home. Put my new pride and joy in the garage and went in. Went back in the garage tonight and nearly passed out with petrol fumes. A very large puddle of unleaded on the floor and now wrinkled and distorted decals on the left belly pan!:angry
Anyway, I could see it dripping from the rear of the tank so removed it, and found the leak to be coming from the pump plate. Removed this and the tank is distorted between every captive nut and nowhere near the seal on the pump plate.
My very long winded question is this, Do I play holy hell with the second hand bike shop I got it from, in the hope they don't bodge it?, or do I do it myself knowing it will be right?
What's the recommended fix for this issue? Fill the distortion with resin or reassemble with fuel proof sealant?
