Fuel leak diagnosis help!

So, I used to brim the tank on my '99 Mille. Then it started to piss fuel when I brimmed it, so I started putting less in (to the same point every time), and all was well.
Today I filled up to my "normal" point, and it must have pissed away about 2-3 litres before it would stop leaking! :dontgetit

So! Once the fuel in the tank gets below a certain point, it stops leaking - before I ruin my girly hands (and my only means of transport), I'd appreciate some idea as to wtf is up with the bike :(

Thanks in advance,

Laura

Yeah, where is it leaking from? If its the filler cap, the o ring has expired or not placed right, if its undertank, as said its a hose thats probably dried up and cracled. My 02 mille also leaked at back under tank. All not nice on a hot bike.

I'll get it apart this weekend (once the nice new tank of fuel has been used up!) I was wondering whether it was a "common" fault, so to speak. The fuel appears to come out at the back of the tank, falls onto the bellypan, and runs down it onto the floor. Stinks like crazy :/ (Before today, it has only ever dribbled, this time is was a full on gush!)

I would if I could, but no other transport, and start work at 6am :/ It was good as gold on the way home, once the leak had stopped. Going to have to take the risk, and hope like crazy it's ok :(

One or both of the internal hoses have fractured , probably near the top where they connect to either the breather or the overflow. You need to get them replaced asap before it gets worse. On mine once it gave way completely the hose dropped into the bottom of the tank and it drained real quick :-(.

or is yours a plastic tank ?

Have just had the same thing it was the fuel pump rubber seal half a tank no prob but fill it up it pissed out
