Fuel filler cap petrol leak

Hi all,

I've just lifted my tank (plastic 06 RSVR) and petrol started leaking from the filler cap surround.

Any ideas?

It is definitely fuel and not water, so I'm thinking it is bad seal around filler rim/cap. Could it be breather/drain hose related?

Hi

Some Gen2 bikes have a poor seal. Mine used to cover my nuts in fuel whenever I filled up. I solved the problem by making an extra washer out of a takeaway tub and slid it underneath the existing seal to create a stronger seal. I've never had a problem since.

Hi Badapple, that's a good tip, I may try some similar improvisation before I 'splash out' on a new cap.
