Morning All,
Having done my first thousand miles on my Tuono my MPG is coming out at a shade under 40.
As I do probably 90% of my mileage on B roads it was definitely more than I was expecting!
Is this the norm ?

I'm sure others will say the same thing, but I'll start. If fuel consumption is a concern, you may have purchased the wrong bike. That out of the way, what year is your bike and does it have the original sprockets?

Gray you're right, I was pleased about the consumption as I was expecting mid 30s !
2Nd Childhood, 2007 - the front sprocket has been changed.
Blade "“ point taken !!

I've consistently clocked 30 to 33mpg since first getting my Gen1 end Dec 14, and enjoying that pull at 7k+ rpm . Using the peak torque band I find 6th gear is redundant much below 110mph.

But funny thing happened today...
Having run another 33mpg until fuel light came on at 100 miles, I decided to eke out the remaining gallon so cruised at 'A' road speed limits, and discovered my Tuono runs sweet at 2.5k to 4k in 6th gear. And bike returned 40mpg. Wey hey... that's a whole new world... and makes the Tuono a nice little cruiser as well as a mental machine for maniacs... when the weathers nice! :thumbup

NB: 2.5k = 50mph. 3k rpm = 60mph in 6th gear with standard sprockets.

I get 15klm/lt or 42mpg with 16/44 gearing(gen 1) on my normal loop of 35k transit and 130k fun and 35k transit back. which is only 1.5klm's less than my hornet 900. so I am pretty happy with that.

Impressive... I expect your warmer air temps directly improve fuel economy.

Warmer weather, better fuel economy, big/long roads, great scenery, and aTuono...!! You Aussies get all the luck! ;) Just watch out for them kangaroo jumping thingys... ;)

I just go by the need for fuel every 70 miles, not that I'm running on vapours but the next fuel station might be closed, empty or 70 miles away.

An early Sunday morning start to do the Leicht Road from Glasgow resulted in me running dry at 162 miles, the fuel stations we passed that morning only opened at 10.00 am.

So if any of you intend to do any weekend riding in the north of Scotland it would pay to do a bit of research on fuel stops and have some idea of when you'll need them.

BTW I was only one mile sort of Grantown on Spey when I ran out.

Aldo, That fits in with my bike as well.

Did a decent ride out yesterday with Grin and I got 130 miles before the light came on.

I have yet to see how far mine goes to the light as I have either filled it before the light comes or or when fiddling with switches have reset the trip - doh!
130 miles to the light? I can live with that :thumbup
I am just planning my route for the Welsh National rally and like you said Aldo the garages in rural Wales close from 6pm so fuelling can be an issue.
But 130 sounds pretty reasonable.

And that means you've got at least another 5lts - the light comes on way too early.
BTW regularly get 42 to 45 mpg out of my 06 Tuono, obviously must ride more sedate than most owners.

on my 2007, i've just had MAP2 installed, and changed my sprockets (16, 44 ..similar to 15 42 but bigger front as its slightly better for chain wear) ...i've managed an impressive 72miles before the light came on lol ... maybe i'm enjoying the new mods a bit to much :whoop

Bought 2007 last month. Just ran my first tank fuel light to fuel light... with 90% of the miles being 3-7 miles trips around town, I got 28 mpg. I expect it to be that way for commuting, and something around 36-38 on the highway.
