Front suspension problems

Still getting used to the RSVR Factory and have been replacing bits and bobs to get it up to scratch. The suspension was all over the place. Took it for a suspension set up today and now fear the worst...... i hadn't really noticed and wasn't too bothered 'cos I knew I was going to get it set up properly, but they pointed out the front forks were very slow returning after compression. Hardly moved back at all.
Previous owner said forks had been fitted with double dust seals?? Apparently solves a common problem????
Anyone heard of this?
Anyway, tachnician suggested it could be as simple as wrong oil used by whoever last worked on them or could be as bad as bent forks. They'll strip them next week and let me know.
Hopefully nothing too serious - or too expensive.

I set everything to what it said in the manual until I got it set up properly. Rebound 10 clicks from fully closed. Suspension is a bit too complicated for me!! Think I'll leave it to the experts!!

Thanks for the info on seals. Should I make sure ohlins double seals are fitted if seals need changing for this repair? And would a different make of oil make such a difference to the performance of the shock? I would have thought the right dot wouldn't have caused such a problem even if it wasn't pucker ohlins oil.

Thought I'd post an update in case it helps someone else.
Forks have been stripped and inspected and no serious damage found.
Apparently the wrong type and grade oil had been used and a botched job inserting the seals by the last owner (or whover he got to do it). I'm still surprised at the effect it had.
So am picking the bike up tomorrow. Hopefully have some dry weather to try it out at the weekend before going to play at Castle Combe on wednesday. First track day of the year for me :doug
Think I've learnt not to take comments like " Yeh mate, front suspension's been upgraded and serviced" as something positive unless I get evidence it was done by someone who knew what the hell they were doing !!

Using JHS Racing in Keynsham. They set up my other bike for about £30 and it made a big difference so thought I'd try the same to get the Aprilia sorted - but they immediately pointed out the rebound issue. Had heard some good reports of them from some lads in Bristol.
Used Morses once years ago on a Firestorm and wasn't too impressed. then they weren't interested in looking at an overheating problem on a Ducati so have never gone back.

that's a shame. Don't be afraid to give em another chance. I've bought three bikes of them and always had good after sales service and they're parts prices are pretty good if you can talk to Tim in the shop. By the way I have no affiliation
or connection with them
