front stand problem

got my new front stand for my 02 rsvr and dont see a good way to get it up. Its one that connects to the bike between the forks up above the fender. Problem is, I dont see anything that will accept a 27mm diameter pin as suggested by the dealer. Only possibility is a hole that is maybe 10mm in diameter and dead ends about 7mm in.
Are these bikes not made for this type of stand? Anyone using one like this? Thanks for any help.

It fits into the underside of the (hollow) steering stem - like this (sorry about the Bologna twin - it's the only photo I have).

On an '06 Factory, I found that a 20mm dia. (standard provision) spigot was too snug to fit, so machined it down to 19.5mm, which fits perfik.

There's not a lot of room and it's awkward inserting this type of stand without scratching anything ('specially if you've got big paws like wot I 'ave). I tend to use a front axle stand for most jobs... but this type is essential if you want to drop the forks.

Dunno about the new shapes but I've never seen any way to use these on my 01 - at least without taking the nose cone off first. There's no hole in the bottom of the fairing - unless I'm missing something.

If I want to work on the front end I use my ABBA stand to get the rear up then take the lower faring off and raise the front with a car jack. for long periods i.e. during the winter lay up, I replace the jack with an axel stand so that both wheels are off the ground.

You'll need to remove the " air deflector" first ,to allow the spigot access then the stand will work though I dont remember it being 27mm , obviously you will need to replace the "air deflector" afterwards ( said in haynes manual technical speak directed at the american public so that i cant be sued ) :nana

unlike other bikes there is a plastic plate, called a 'lock-up' in most of the literature. Its a couple of allen head bolts to get it out. Then you will see the bottom of the steering stem. I had a similar kerfuffle when i was fitting my gps mount
