Front Forks Position

Aup All,

Has anyone dropped the forks through the yokes?
I was wondering if it helped with the slightly vague feeling from the front and also with turning in speed?
If so how much have you dropped them by and has it had an effect (positive or negative) anywhere else? (i.e, stability, body position??)

Cheers,

D.

Yep, 3 rings showing much better. Do it alters steering angle slightly and turns in much quicker.

Cheers Dan,

Sounds good to me, as a matter of interest, what profile/size rear do you have fitted?

Dave.

Assuming you're ok with your preload settings, on Showas, agree 3 rings.
Any more than 3 rings, on a GenII & you run the risk of the front wheel catching the rad.
190/55 rear. Slightly higher profile, again, helps the bike turn in easier/quicker.

I have run 200/195/190/60's and 55's all with 3 rings showing and no issues.

However will be putting a longer chain on over winter so the wheelbase is a little longer.

Dan, why the longer chain are you having stability issues?

I run a 180/60 rear and everything is sweet, but I'd still like a bit faster turn in speed and a more feeling in the front. Picky, I know ;)

Well I run 15 44 gearing at Cadwell and it shortens the wheelbase somewhat (iirc 7mm) compared to 15 42 which is what I usually run and have no issues with.

15 44 is just a bit too twitchy due to the wheel base now being shorter on OEM chain so want 15 44 to be where my chain guides are now, on 15 42, if you catch my drift? then 15 42 will have a slightly longer wheelbase which is no major issue as a few people say run a long wheel base for track.

If you have the reddies I bought an Adrianni Com/rebound kit from FTR suspension front is way better also have a NITRON rear shock.

Its never going to be the quickest of (naked) bikes to turn in quickly (but should be better than a sportsbike), this bike excels at long fast sweepers always going to be trade off.

But defo try 3 rings showing before it gets to cold to ride and see if you notice the difference, with a 180/60 should quicken it up no end anyhoo.

If you get the chance get the suspension set up at a track day for road riding :thumbup

Excellent, thanks for that, I have also changed the drive ratio to 15/43 (didn't want to go too extreme lol). So hope it doesn't make the thing too twitchy?
Will give it a go and post the results here :)
Will maybe look into different suspension next year? That's another little issue with me.

Cheers,

D.

Well you will soon find out :yes

In fairness this is on track so pushing a little bit, things like wheelbase steering angle are more apparent.

Sure it will be bob on for road.

Dont forget to re calibrate the APRC (I dont have the luxury of APRC so makes things easier for me messing around)
