Front discs?

hi guys,

I had my Galfers sent away and re-riveted due to some play between rotors and discs. Fitted them again and took it for a run round the block to check all's well. The brakes seem to be alot poorer now??? They used to bite straight away but now seem to have to use alot more force to stop, also there seems like a slight "pulse" when on part brake??? the discs were sent back in fine order so aren't warped (the guys checked for me) but is it possible to overtighten the bolts that secure the discs to the wheels and cause uneven movement???

cheers again.

Have a search around the site andi as there was a thread about this problem with floating discs I remember seeing. Never done them myself but there is supposed to be a mod you can do. Sure someone will enlighten us.

Thanks bud......been a ****** couple of days with bike as all the little issues i thought i'd sorted seem to still be here!! Discs, mpl, carbon ears, sidestand!!!! Never f*cking ending bud!!!!

Just been out at the bike again, checking discs and noticed there is no movement between rotors and discs now (due to new rivets) could this be the problem???? I doubt it as the guys at ABE are spot on and surely wouldn't have done it if it were going to be a problem?????

I always used to get a slight pulsing when slowing from 10-0mph with Galfers on all the bikes I had them on.
Milles are sensitive to disc float, make sure the buttons that hold the disc to the rotor can turn through 360 deg freely.
If that doesn't cure it you can try de-glazing your pads, if all that fails you can turn the discs into full floaters.
There's a mod on one of the forums. Be back in a min as I was reading about it last night.

Andi, fully floating discs should have slight play in them and shouldn't be tight.

However, it may be prudent to give them a good run to let them find their seating, if you know what I mean.

If after a good run out they still pulse then I would send them back as they must have mounted them wrong.

Check to make sure all the buttons are seated correctly too before test riding.

Thanks again guys, i'll check the buttons today and maybe wait till i give it a good run and see then, thanks very much again.
