Front discs needed

It appears that i have managed to warp the right hand front disc on my 2001 rsvr so I will need at least one, and would think its probably best to change both at the same time.

Does anyone have one or a pair for sale, or alternatively know where to get a cheapish set. Just had a look on ebay, but wanted to check here before I commit to anything on there.

Cheers

I think Griff is doing genuine brembo's for £228,Ive got a slight vibrasion on mine,& have got a set of braking wavy discs in the loft, trouble is I like the gold centers as they match the wheels, radial discs are different

mate i did the brakes in on the blade and put a set of wavey galfer ones on look the bollocks and performed superb - i looked at ebay etc as was skint as 2 week before isle of man but is it worth it ?? could spend £100 - £ 150 on rubbish - some guy telling u they only done 2000 mile - never been used hard etc who knows - time - effort and money all wasted - to be honest skrall if u dont commute on it and dont need it daily - id save up over the winter and get a good new set

Yeah I agree lots of people selling used ones on ebay and saying they're nearly brand new but the saving aren't enough to warrent the risk.
Trouble is its my only transport and used daily, and budget won't stretch to brand new but i've just seen some for sale on fleabay, apparently from an aprilia dealer for 179.99 so might go for them. Says they're aprilia ones not brembo.

You absolutely sure you've warped the disc then?

Have you checked it's not just a seized bobbin or sticky pad/piston?

Would hate for you to spend loads of money on discs only to find they needed freeing off. :thumbup

I had thought it was a problem with the pads and took it round the garage for em to have a look but they said the pads were fine, they spun the wheel up for me and you could just about see the slightest buckle in the right disc. Dunno if they checked the pots in the caliper though.

Does anyone know the difference between the aprilia discs and the brembo ones, cause theres a big difference in price?

mate take calliper off - push the pistons back and re-spin the wheel and have a look - the only true way would be to use a dial in gauge but i guess we all have them somewhere in the garage right whose stole mine ??

the shop probably labelled them up as aprillia discs as regarding to the fitment really - but brembo are the real ones - but to be quite honest seeing as brembo are the real leaders in braking and hydraulic system technology i do feel that aprillia have been sold a donkey on there equipment - ***** back brake, poor clutch ??? seems poor equipment for world leaders on top quality bikes

The Aprilia discs are Brembo discs, they are one and the same

Just to reiterate what AMB has said, it's rare for the Brembo discs to warp unless they've had some serious abuse. The common issue is the stainless bobbins that carry the outer rotor become clogged up with all sorts of crap. You'll get a judder under braking. You need to free these off so you can rotate each one easily with you thumb and forefinger. Use some brake cleaner and insert a flat blade screwdriver or similar to gently to turn the bobbins. Then squirt a very small amount of WD40 on each one until it rotates easily with you thumb and forefinger until you feel little resistance. Clean off any excees WD though !

If you still have judder then it's more than likely a warped disc.

Killaprilla, the Brembo parts are fine, it's an Aprilia design fault that causes the problems with the back brake i.e the rear brake master cylinder is too near to the exhaust downpipe, boiling the brake fluid and hence no feel to the rear brake. There are simple ways this can be sorted though

The loss of feel to the clutch is down to too much heat transferring through the clutch slave cylinder causing air bubbles to form in the brake fluid. The air travels up to the clutch master cylinder on the left hand clip on. The master cylinder has a self bleed mechanism each time you pull in the clutch but due to the way it's mounted, some air can still get trapped, hence the need to bleed it occasionally.

Don't just limit yourself to Aprilia discs - check out the part numbers on this to see the massive range of bikes that use these discs.
I'm currently building up my track wheels using one RS125 disc and one Cagiva Mito disc - both 320mm Brembos - slightly different centre design but who cares? Solstice has just used one of these ebay specials on a full track day at Cadwell (and Oi, can I have it back soon please?). I paid £30 for one and £15 for a complete wheel with disc for the other.

some on the bay at the mo supposed very low mileage cheap at the mo shame to brake a bike with such low mileage
