hi, can anybody tell me how much movement there should be between the outer disc and the inner part as mine has a lot of play now i have cleaned the disc buttons, is there a max amount of movement before they are classed as worn out ? plus is there a special tool to thighten up the headstock.

I have 2 sets of wheels for the RSVR (04) both have a fair bit of play between inner & outer discs. My spare wheels (wet track wheels) almost seem to rattle when off the bike. My Prilla dealer said they okay, and proof of that is I've been around 6 different tracks at excess of 250, massively hard on brakes for a couple years now and they work fine. They are a floating disc i guess. I have never seen nor heard of a disc letting go yet! hope this helps.

thanks for that, i was not sure if i needed to change them but from what you have said i dont :biggrin me being paranoid again lol

New discs are tight & have no slop in them, I change mine when they have a bit of play in them but I don't like them getting too loose as it feels like the steering bearings are knackered as the front end clunks every time you apply the brakes. A lot of people chance it riding around with worn out discs, it's up to them :eatcorn

Agreed, I would change them at the 'clunking' stage for sure! & If they breached the minimum thickness

it was the clunking from the front end that made me look at them in the first place, but i put it down to a bit of slack in the head bearings, i will have another look now, cheers lads:thumbup

one of mine did the clunking and i put up with if for a while but it really didn't do much for the confidence. I changed them and was happier..
