gday all,
im installing LED tail and front indicators, and i have to mod the flasher unit to keep normal flashing rates, firstly where is the flasher unit, and secondly has anyone done this mod,i have an aftermarket fasher unit that came with the lights,it says some bikes its a plug in,and other bikes may have to be hard wired in,just wanted some ideas and thoughts before taking half the bike apart or cutting anything....
cheers.

When you fit all Led indicators and a non load dependant relay (LED type) you often have to isolate the left right circuit.
By default both circuits are linked together by the dash warning bulb which is common to both sides. The standard relay can detect load and will only flash the 2 lights at a time.

Because the Led relay cannot detect load it will flash as many leds as it can in it's circuit path. that means more often than not due to the dash light linking them together all 4 flash or just stay on.
It's often dependant of the indicator type.

If it turns out to be the case for you. I will post pics etc of how to isolate the curcuits and still use the dash warning lamp.
The Led relay cannot indicate a failed light by faster flash rate either.

The relay is in the tail.

thanks for that.
wow lots of info, sucks its not such an easy job,I will try it and see what happens.
But if it has the problem you mentioned, could i just run resistors in line to each light?
I hate wiring, lol,so easy to get those gremlins.....
thanks again mate.

If you have an Led Relay then resistors won't help because the relay cannot detect load.
You can try load resistors with the original relay.

yeah that is what i meant,im sure i'll get it sorted, just dont like those big indicators on the front, lol,so some nice carbon LED ones will trick it up abit.
thanks again for the info mate.
cheers,
mark.
