Got my mpl slave for 2002rsvr over the weekend.it says use a syringe to fill up.is this a must.or as anyone just blead it through.reason being i have no syringe:dunno.ill pick one up it is a must..thanks for any info

When I fitted mine I didn't have a syringe. Just bled it in the normal way and it was fine. I still have to bleed my clutch every 1,000 miles or so but apparently that's down to the Brembo master cylinder letting in air and it only takes a minute to do. :thumbup

Fill it with fluid first!

Make sure you fill the unit with fluid before fitting, otherwise you may struggle to bleed the unit as it will airlock from the outset.:confused

Badger struggled with his until Rex and I came to the rescue, once we filled the cylinder with fluid it worked a treat.:thumbup

SOT 07..................in his garage....

Just a newby question if I may?

What's different on these master cylinders? never had any trouble with any others 'letting in air' ?

Mine 'feels' ok at the lever but still engages first from rest with a dramatic clunk?

If there was air in the slave (or master) would it not be apparent in feeling 'spongy' ?

If there is any air in the unit it will not be felt like the brake as it never "hardens out", typically air in the unit means less push from the cylinder, less push on the rod means less clutch action leading to possible cluncky initial gear selection.

As a side, mine is like that from cold, definitely clunky until it warms up then its smooth as silk.

My MPL has zero bubbles in it, and I don't seem to have the problem with seepage through the master cylinder either.......my oil does not go black anymore ever, but I do now change it annually (Not that that made a difference before).
