first of all let me start by saying that the guys and girls at Frasers of gloucester are a top bunch of peeps.
they did a very good job of putting new fork seals in my bike, they were quick, efficient and extremely helpful and pleasant, and at a reasonable cost too !!
Now the good bit, they let me loose on the v4 tuono for 2 hours while they sorted my bike. For those of you who've ridden it this'll be no suprise to you, but for those of you that havn't, oh my god, what a machine !!
I thought my bike was fun but **** me sideways this thing is proper quick, an absolute hoot. Pinning the throttle back and banging up through the box on that quickshifter is quite honestly addictive, and that sound, even with the standard can is awesome.
For me the only downside ( apart from the price ) was the seat, its like sitting on a concrete slab.
Awesome, ******* awesome ! Do i want one ? Yes !!
Or do i ?, riding mine back was a bit of a revelation, its way more comfortable, not much slower in the real world and is bought and paid for. I think that says a lot about just how damn good our bikes are, i couldn't justify spending another 5 grand on a bike that although fabulous isn't twice as good as what i have.
Lottery win i'd have one in a shot !!

If I ever did test one, I think I would have the thoughts as yourself Dave.

I am not good enough to get the best out of such a machine, & think I would ultimatelly come away feeling like I have not tried hard enough.

I was the same when Fire blades came out & everyone who was used to old GSXR1100`s went out & bought one.

The blades were just too nice & "better than the riders"

After a good blast on an old Gixer, I would come back thinking I had achieved something (by getting back in one piece)

I just did not get that feeling on a blade.

Does any of the above make sense.

Any-way, I am just too stingy (careful) to lash that amount of money to stand in the garage for such a big %age of the time.

Dave B,

You have echoed almost word for word what I thought about the V4 compared to my Factory. It ate away at me so much I just had to have one. Is it a twice as good bike? My honest answer is no because the V twins are fantastic bits of kit, but I farkin love it and you obviously do too, they really are mind blowing aren't they?!!

By the way, you'll get used to the seat, I did!

I thought you might like the v4 Dave but like you said , i think our bikes are just as fast in the real world , wot with pot holes and gravel etc , plus 11 and a half grand is a lot of money aint it !

your right boys , it is indeed a superb peice of kit. The thing is i,ve spent a lot of money on my bike what with all the carbon/exhausts/airbox etc etc etc and to be honest with you i prefer the looks of mine over the v4.
A set of sexy levers and a quickshifter on mine and i think i've almost got the perfect bike.....oh a quickshifter, mmm mmm mmm !!

a quickshifter !!

is this doable lads ?

in fact, dont want to accused of hijacking so i,ll start a new thread.

I think I read in one of the bike mags the twin is on par with the 4 till about 9k, when the 4 keeps going. Having said that, change gear on the twin and use the torque. I'd love to try a 4, but don't want to be tempted

I agree with all of what Dave said ... I simply gave in to the temptation as I had a one-off chance to blow some cash ... as to whether it's any quicker in the real world, well, I am finding that I am riding quicker on the V4 than I did on the twin, but that's not necessarily a good thing, as I'm now riding way too fast on the road, simply because it's just so damned easy, and the howl from the v4 going up through the quick shifter on the open Akra is just intoxicating ...

TubbyT`s comments about riding way faster for the road is another reason why I sold the blade years ago.
I found I was blasting about at full throttle, doing 140`s, 150`s in daft places & thinking it was normal.
Too many arse nipping moments when cars pull out.
I much prefer going slower but with more style.
I am glad I had one, I rode a Blade back from the lakes in the spring & it just re-inforced my reasons for sticking with the twin.

But everyone to their own. Life would be boring if we all thought the same.

Olaf, that's why I got rid of my 'blade too, that and the 6 points I picked up ... and now I am finding I am riding more like a hooligan again at getting on for 'blade speeds ... it's 120's and 130's now compared with the 140's and 150's I was doing on the 'blade, and I am becoming more conscious of the speeds I am riding at, and am trying to slow back down a bit ... sticking to 2nd and 3rd where I would be doing the same revs in 3rd and 4th for example ... at least that's what I was trying yesterday, (helped by a brand new tyre that needed gentle scrubbing in :)

You sound exactly the same as me. I had a blade too and a 636 which were too easy to ride fast. Needed to slow down hence the T

I had an Old Gixxer it sure was like riding a guided missile. Awesome!!

If anybody here is tempted, I have put an ad on here to sell my T V4R with an RSV4 factory engine fitted... Just putting that out there :)
